Services uses AD username, not the domain.

It should work - it is designed for the Service!

@@SQLBI It does not display USERNAME() value in a card. Shows Error in Service, although in Desktop it displays correct value. However it turns out that it returns domain\username in Desktop and user email address in Service.

You are probably making some other mistake - it works correctly also in the service in a card. Open a ticket with Microsoft support to further investigate what is not working on your tenant.
