Using 2 Guitars at Once in The Line 6 Helix 2 Minute Tip 

I just made a setup for acoustic and electric, when I choose the acoustic the electric is muted just by choosing the aux in and vice versa. I have a big setlist for a Worship/gospel band, and now I don't have to switch the cable, just keep both plugged in. Also the acoustic works best with an angled jack, and the elctric with a straight. I used Neutrik silent plugs for a long time, but sometimes they don't play nice with guitar that has active electronics... that you also can have 2 instruments plugged in at the same time, in case you break a string is very cool too ;-) The Helix just grows on you :-) Instead of using the send out, you could just hard pan the two signals. So many options!

Cool tip! I've got a drumless rehearsal coming up soon where we'll be running 2 guitars and a bass through the same Helix LT, using the return 1 and 2. Set up the patch today in preparation and it all looks like its going to work, all set to multi output so that we can record through USB and all monitor ourselves through studio monitors

How does this work with use of the onboard tuner? Do you both use the one inside the helix? Or is it preferable that one of you runs into a pedal tuner before running into the helix? Love your videos mate, thanks for all the tips

This was helpful as I'm planning to get a Helix for Chapman Stick and I haven't seen any videos covering that particular usage. Maybe I'll post some videos myself when I get it.

@Steve Sterlacci Why I stumbled upon your video is because I want to visit my friend, who lives in an appartment, and I want to play together with her in our headphones (not to disturb neighbors), but I can not find a Multi effect unit with 2 separate guitar inputs, I have been looking at the Headrush MX5 and Headrush Core and also Prime. None of them have more than 1 guitar input. Can I play together with a friend on two separate guitars with this Line 6 Helix ?!? Do you understand what I am looking for ? I want for example for me and my friend to play lets say Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls together on a guitar each in a headphone each to here each other play at the same time to the song. I'm probably not understanding something - actually, you can ignore the 'probably' bit - but: Your guitar in path has output set to 'multi', I think you mentioned you use the 1/4" for your monitor and XLR going to FOH. The Aux in path has output set to Send 1/2. What is that output to?? How does that get to FOH? How does she monitor? What I would like: Two guitars, using Gt in and Aux in. Both guitars going to seperate amps (monitoring) and going to FOH seperately (want each channel recorded on its own). How do I do this?

Ostensibly, could you also set both outputs to XLR and hard pan them if they don't need to be stereo? I just got my Helix, mainly planning for use in musical theater applications where I've got an electric signal chain and an acoustic one, with one channel each going to FOH

steve great video!! i have one question tho man im so close to buying an hx stomp.. i play bass, but for a couple songs in a live show i will play guitar.. i dont want to have to bring essentially one rig for bass, and one rig for guitar to a show.. do u know if the hx stomp is capable of doing the same thing you're doing here? putting the bass input L to a cab, and then guitar (w it's own patch) input R or the aux in, to FOH.. is this possible? thanks steve man you're a lifesaver

This is awesome, this should work the same with the LT . The LT is missing the Aux but I should be able to assign the other guitar to something else thats not being use like Return 1 or something. I havent bought anything yet but want to set up for a Edrummer and guitar with primarily headphones. If I wanted to just use headphones the Helix LT or Floor would be all I need? Just plug headphone right into the Helix?

Steve I dont have a need to run two separate guitar on a single preset but I play my guitar and also a cigar box guitar. Have a separate preset for my cigar box guitar so i thought i would just set that preset to Aux in and plug my cigar box into it while my guitar is in the guitar input. What I noticed is that the Aux in sounds different. It has less high end and i lose grit/distortion. Is there something that i can do to make the Aux input sound like the guitar input?

Hi there, Does it work for both the guitars with passive pickups? If i set first guitar's output to xlr left and second guitar to xlr rigt, then what are the drawbacks of this setup?

Upload, I think this would be an easy fix for a guitar and bass or guitar and vocals. Really would like to try it for electric and acoustic

What if both of you needed the solo boost together? Snapshot mode doesn't allow 2 snapshots at a time.

What output settings do you use for your FRFR monitor coming off either the sends or 1/4, Instrument or line? Is one setting a better quality signal than the other? Seems like "line" is a bit hot for my FRFR monitor.

my helix doesnt have the option to choose multi or aux, what do i do about that? i have helix native, also can you upload your snapshot of this?

This is the most frustrating thing about the helix LT. if you want dual inputs you have to buy the floor model at an extra $1000. That’s the only feature I really need so I’m forced to buy the floor model or stay with the HD500x
