Brilliant, thanks. Been trying to get my head around how I could sync up a midi guitar looper with iPad synths and beats in AUM today and out of the blue this video arrives! Much simpler than I thought too!
I've been doing a lot of this lately using that IConnectivity Midi+2 device, which is amazing btw. Another way - if you have Digitakt and hardware setup is to sync connect Digitakt to iPad via USB and integrate into the overall setup. All of the above - and add the Octatrack - and Cue out FX back into another ipad running AUM and AUV3 effects.... :)

Are you saying that if I connect the iPad to the DIgitakt via USB, than I can talk to and sequence *external midi gear* that is connected to the Digitakt from the iPad? or just to start/stop midi clock? 👍
@@ElectronisoundsAudio Sure, if you fire the midi out of the ipad on the autochannel - probably 14, and then have a channel set to the right piece of MIDI gear eg (pad 9 set to external midi channel) - the notes will feed through to the external gear - could also record the ipad midi output onto the digitakt steps...:)
yep just tested to be sure, im running Rozetta Bassline in AUM output to Digitakt Autochannel. The Digitakt has a channel setup for the midi gear. - and as long as you are active on that channel - the midi will pass from ipad to external gear. - almost the same thing when you connect Patterning and fire MIDI at the digitakt low notes.
great video thanks - question - I'd like to sync my TR8S with Samplr on the iPad via the camera connection kit - so rather the the iPad being the clock, Samplr accepting sync in - would this be possible using a similar 5pin MIDI interface cable? Thanks!
Sorry, Your asking specifics on an APP I don't use. I'm not sure if Samplr sends midi clock. If it does, you should be able to do it using the 5pin midi connection! 😀 👊
IMHO, better for routing inside *itself. You can *record individual (or master) tracks in AUM, and then export them to PC using dropbox, etc... Try to think of using an iPAD with a PC the same as using a hardware synth with a PC, you need to connect MIDI *and AUDIO. 5pin Midi can be connected using the iRig, and you'll need another one for the PC *OR an audio interface for the PC which has a built-in MIDI port. Each device needs it's *own midi connection device and it's *own audio interface.

Hey Hey! Thanks for watching! 😁👊 That's a reallllllly hard one to guess at. I've had a LOT of trouble getting the 505 to sync properly with an outside clock. rodney mitchell I don’t use them *together very much. The PC and iPad don’t have a very good communication. Typically, I would either export the audio recordings from iPad to the PC via Dropbox, or just use quality analog cables between the 2 audio interfaces. Each device needs its *own audio interface. The PC and iPad cannot share the same audio interface. ☺️👊
hey man! great video. im curious if i can power my audio interface via the ipad to get audio thru aum with my ios effects while at the same time syncing aum with circuit. obviously can only connect one usb to the cck so if i want the interface hooked up to it then i can’t plug the circuit usb into it at the same time... do you know if a powered usb hub will let me hook up the audio interface and circuit to the cck simultaneously?
You would need a powered USB hub. 😀 👊 You would just plug in the USB to the circuit from the USB hub: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q1l0hFeH26I.html (That is only for MIDI, the audio from the iPad would still come from it's audio interface, and the Circuit would still have it's audio coming from the circuit.) To heat BOTH together, you will need a MIXER of some kind to route the the audio into . Electronisounds Audio thank you man! i do have a mixer as well! i need to dust it off.... right now i’m able to sync aum with circuit but the audio just goes right to the input of the interface , and that is plugged into my macbook....sounds good man and i’ll watch that link! thanks for your help dude
YES! You can absolutely route the midi from your drum machines, grooveboxes and sequencers into the iPad and use them to control things! 🤗😁👊 How you set it up, will depend specifically on each app, individually -, but *any app* that allows for midi clock and/or midi *learn* will allow you to do this! WOOT!
Yeah....great video Dean!!!...but this reminds me why I gone old skool...no usb midi 4 me lol I must be only person who doesnt have ipad lol....I owned first ever iphone...put me off, of cause theres a mac in studio...but....usb midi err too much pennies and dongles and wires for me lol

But the *options* and *possibilities* were too big a draw for me - I could not resist the temptation of incorporating the iPad. 😀 👊 It's really not that much Dongles.😏 The USB hub you still need for a desktop or laptop. The Audio Interface you still need for a desktop or laptop. The iRig MIDI interface is the same as you would need to get 5pin MIDI into a desktop or laptop. The only extra here is the lightning to USB 3 adapter for the iPad. It's 1 extra dongle, really. No biggie. 🤓😀 👊

The more gear = the *less* music actually being made! lol If my goal these days was *only* to write and finish tracks, I think i'd just be using Ableton only because of the super fast workflow. But these days, getting lost in the gear is really helping me stay busy, and keep my brain from focusing on my tinnitus 100% of the time. (I'm really glad that actual gear has been making such a huge comeback! lol) 😀 👊
