Honored to be part of this project! Now I just need to convince Spitfire to do a proper release with me 😅 Become a Patron ► venustheory.com/buckaroonie-babez LABS Foghorn ► labs.spitfireaudio.com/foghorn
I went to Spitfire to DL it and it won't DL. I click Download and nothing happens. No URL to the DL package shows up when I mouse over it, so something's busted. Please ring them up and let them know.
Thanks for the video to showcase your efforts. Hope this contribution and the Foghorn will help to punch through the mist that you say has been enveloping you lately. The recognition from Spitfire shows that you are doing something righteous and inspirational.
Ayyyyyyyy thank you! Not sure how I missed this haha. Super happy to have been involved in this project, hopefully will get to work with Spitfire again in the future!
Instantly downloaded Foghorn as I seen it on LABS RU-vid channel, and now I learn that it was you who produced that library haha, so damn cool! Such a unique library, and its amazing how LOW you can go with that.
Exactly same thoughts here, it was an instant download for me days ago to find out today that it was Mr. Buckaroonie himself. Cognratz man, Spitfire!👍 that's major league.
got here because I just installed foghorn and remembered seeing a "walkthrough" email from Spitfire...so I was watching that and "somebody's" name came up regarding the presets and I just about spewed coffee all over my console! I don't know why it didn't strike me before, but the realization hit me just now: the marriage of LABS vision for interesting and unusual creative sounds and your uncanny knack for creating just that is a match made in audio heaven! Just hearing the presets on the walkthrough video has inspired all kinds of song ideas in my brain instantly...and the end philosophy of your video here is proof enough that I need to get cracking and make those happen pronto!!!
I'm so glad you made a video on this. I was hyped to see you were involved with the foghorn instrument! I'm currently obsessed with Nightfrost, it's so magical!!
Thanks! Was a really fun challenge, haven't worked with something this 'basic' in a long time so it was cool to apply all I've learned over the years to this project and kinda come full circle to what I did when I was first learning to sample stuff. Loved the more 'ambient braams' myself, but of course I'm a bit biased when it comes to stuff with a ton of reverb on it haha
@@VenusTheory well. i downloaded this labs item some days ago, did a bit of testing and didn´t think much about it - it´s way cool to see you involved and i like, how you teach me some respect for this special sound - i know what i will check again, but surely more intensely, haha - thank you... :-)
What Marcus said! So happy that this goal came to fruition for you, here's hoping there are many more Spitfire x VT collabs and that those include your own library/ies (plus maybe an SA Recordings release?)
Many years ago I went camping in Prince-Edward Island (Canada). I put my tent in a very wild isolated area with only two or three houses around but far, lots of trees and it was siding the sea shore. A very quiet and beautiful place to camp. I just didn’t realize a fog horn was hiden between trees not so far but during the night, I knew ! All in all I love fog horn sound a lot, but prefer them in the distance. Lol !
Ha! That'd be a terrifying way to wake up in the night - you'd think you were getting abducted by aliens or something. Agreed it's probably much better from a distance haha
I usually don’t comment, but wow, it’s cool to not only get a cool FREE instrument, but it’s also made by someone I respect. And to see how much fun you had while making it, and then explaining your creative process is very inspiring. Awesome stuff
One of my favorite LABS - I'm already pitching using it in the soundtrack to our director. I love it - Thanks for the backstory and the creative inspiration!
Getting a look into the processing itself was awesome to see as well. I adore foghorns, especially when they are used sparingly and in their more... alarming habitat. (I know they are overused to death in trailer music. *Look at what they did to my boy.*) Also, LABS is a godsend, and so are you!
This entire library begins with the question "What if" and every iteration is just asking that question over and over and over again. Love it. Sounds crazy. Imma cop it
Sounddesign makes so much fun and this video shows it all. You can open up worlds with a single source. I really like your understanding of sound and share it with all
I'm not gonna lie..I downloaded Foghorn for 2 reasons : 1) It's unique and cool 2) Your presets are insanely good and you did an amazing job Congrats for your goal and I'll wait for sure another LABS instrument when you will get involved..because I'm 100% sure that this is not the end , it's only the beginning Cam :)
Splendid. And I might add that I am a (retired) film/TV/voiceover actor. SAG since 1977. Thus, speaking professionally, you have excellent presentation skills young man. And great "chops."
Thank you for sharing the techniques, because lately I too have been strugling with using a "one-shot" sound and try to manipulate it into something usable as an instrument. For me, this is one of your most interesting videos. Again, than you.
I got this in my library so fast it made my head spin! Thank you so much for being involved in creating such a badass sample!! Spitfire chose the right one for it! You have such a gift my friend! It sounds so good! Thank you for your creativity man! I'm creating something awesome with this Foghorn. I'm gonna send you a tip in pianobook. I have quite a bit of samples and you are at the top of the list! Enjoying coffee once again with you! Cheers and stay creative!! ☕🤗🤘🎶🎶
I love you contribution to Foghorn and I have already used it for an intro on one of my tracks for my next album, really awesome the whole thing is, but especially love the VT additions. so cool. Thanks Cameron.
I love to know the stories behind the sounds, I am using. It inspires me for my work as a composer. So thank you very much for designing this LABS-instrument and sharing the process of its creation.
That was a veritable masterclass, thank you, and it is great to see how much you enjoyed making it. I was grinning with anticipation at your "but what if it didn't.." teasers, your knowing smile giving away the fact that something extra-epic was about to come! Super stuff, Cam. Super stuff, LABS. Now I just need to find an excuse to get this into some compositions..
Glad you enjoyed it! And for sure - super important to be 'into' what you're making I think and it was awesome that I basically had a full creative license from LABS to just do what I wanted.
wow, little did i know that one of my all time favorite instruments was made by one of my favorite youtube person ( channel / presenter / morning coffee rumble 😂 ) made me smile on a frustrated sunday… gonna turn this boat around, avoid the rocks of procrastination & enjoy this mug of steaming inspiration !!! seriously, regardless of the puns & humor…you made my day, thank you 👍
Excellent! I routinely sample only 1 note. It's not all that difficult to create movement using effects. Hooking key-velocity to modulate timber and dynamics makes creating an expressive patch from one sample easy. 😇
ha... it was you who did this!! it gets EVEN BETTER. i loaded foghorn down as soon as i got the notification of its sortie from spitfire, and i literaly spend the nights following this, playing around with this phantastic library. gave me a big and well needed creativity boost, was the basis for a piece for a video-score i work on and i put it already as aditional sound element in several other pieces.WHAT A CRAZY FUN to put a track way down below the nominal bass track... and it works... THANKS A LOT. you already was great help with lots of your advices, but this is crank to 11!!
What an inspiration! I recorded some random sample and hold swells from a 2600 run through an Effectron yesterday and was about to go out and work on a piece using it. I'm in freesound looking through foghorn sounds now because they are just what I need. Thank you!
Thank you so much for making and sharing your excellent videos. As an amateur field recordist and would be sampler instrument creator I especially enjoyed this one and the Foghorn synth is beautiful and wonderful! You are so talented and gifted!
I've been waiting for a good video on foghorns since I've dreamt of making music, and am currently doing with this sound, since I was in my teens, thanx for sharing this inspirational process, Sir!
That is awesome! Congrats. If anybody could do something beautiful with something so obscure, it would definately be you! They picked the right man for the job.
Congratulations on the opportunity! It's a great instrument, I'm excited to have been around to see this great team-up of some of my favorite musical super-powers.
This was really fantastic, and I’m really happy for you. I’ve been in a “musical rut” lately… but this video (and a few of your more recent videos) have given me some real food for thought. Keep them coming!
The LABS Foghorn "VT - Brutalizer" patch, layered with the low brass tenuto and long swell from Abbey Road One: Orchestral Foundations, and played in octaves, makes a nice sforzando-swell braaam. But really, pretty much any of the Foghorn patches combined with low brass tenutos and/or marcatos works quite well.
It’s even better if you play it as a boopengogger while layering it with the mainframe for serval-like tones sounding warm and rich like 4 day aged pancakes. Great for when you need seaweed shelves to make your dandelions a little more cuppy or when you’re designing shoe-planks and need a little more OOMPH
Excellent work! Makes a great low end layer for many of my other synths. Of course I need a shout out for the folks at Spitfire for sharing such a wonderful collection of tonal variety😁🎶🎹🎶Play On
Hi Cameron. The foghorn is one of my favourite sounds (I was born and raised on the coast and shipping was in my family for generations). I’m so pleased that you were involved with the project. For those interested I can highly recommend the book “The Foghorn's Lament: The Disappearing Music of the Coast” (it’s available on Audible, read by the author). I’m going to wait a few months before attempting a composition as I think we’ll soon be swamped by others creating with this very distinctive sound. Cheers. Lee
Always loved air raid sirens and foghorns, the air raid sirens are crank operated, so they are loud for a long time. I never had a foghorn, but always wanted a real one!
I literally chuckled out loud at the first sound of the "punchier" version. It's so epically over-the-top. I'm gonna go download the Foghorn instrument now. Great work, and fantastic variety from a one-note sample.
Awesome Cameron! What a massive sound. You and the LABS team really knocked it out of the park with this one! It was a real pleasure working with Calum and Sally for the LABS version of Harmonic Flights (including the sound design aspects), so I can relate to your experience. Keep on killing it and I hope to see another Spitfire/Venus Theory collaboration sometime soon!
Dang, dude! Hats off to you, man. I’ve been avidly following your channel in recent weeks, and somehow missed this video- I had no idea you’d been involved in this project; all the more buzzed about making full use of it in Spitfire, now! 😎👍
I just downloaded the Foghorn and checked it out. I gotta say, you really did a beautiful job with this project. Sounds amazing.! Kind regards and thank you!
Hi Cameron - thanks for creating really interesting and inspiring content for us all. I'm relatively new subscriber to the channel and was delighted to hear you were involved in this. Easily the best LABS instrument for quite some time. Bravo!
Congrats! You made some really cool sounds that I think fit a LABS library perfectly - conceptual, creative, experimental, and evocative. A very cool partnership! Also, thank you for your words and reflection at the end. As a person a year or two in beginning a recording/producing journey, they're words I needed to hear. Thank you!
Seems like I can now finish my foghorn dnb track that already includes a sampled foghorn. I needed something to introduce it in a better way than just putting a filter on it. Thank you very much sir!
Thank you for sharing your process in making this library. I found the library very inspirational, but your process even more inspiring and insightful. I felt like I'd arrived as a noob to a wine taster and realising there are so much nuances I've not realised I can taste...
