If you have a 2013 Soul, or near that year, your USB port may not work to charge any lightening cable enable iDevice. There's a fix! Also, if you want to bring your Amazon Echo Dot in the car, there's any easy way to do that. Watch and be amazed!

I think that you should be able to get a white USB adaptor that plugs into the Cigarette socket in your local Tiger Electronics centre in your car might be better that using that pluggable dongle.

all you need to do is buy usb car adapter with two usb ports and enough output current, because built in usb ports might not have enough current for charging every device + it would be better to just use app on your phone. But hey that dots LEDs looks cool in car ;)

Just wondering why you didn’t connect your Dot to your Kia Soul’s Bluetooth system over the 3.5mm? Also it’s nice to see another Kia Soul using a Dot installed. I placed mine with 3M adhesive on the forward dome light, center between the 2 lights. Drilled a small hole, placed a small rubber grommet and ran the wire up there and hardwired it in. Works excellent.

Sweet! You took it to the next level. The reason I didn't use bluetooth is I use my iphone over bluetooth.

so, rather than using Siri to do tasks like weather and play music, you use another device? Seems to me it's not worth it considering Siri can do a lot of the same things and since you're using an iPhone with a headphone jack, why not just plug the iPhone into the Aux jack, turn on "Hey Siri" and do things hands free that way?

Great question. It all depends on what you need the hands free device for. Siri and Alexa are not identical. I can't tell you the times I've yelled "hey Siri" and got no response while driving. I quit using it because of that. My car even has a microphone right above my head.

Siri sucks. I am all Apple but it’s terribly limited. I have a dot installed in my Soul and it’s phenomenally better, does more and listens much more efficiently.

sounds like a great way to suck up ur mobile data and make ur phone bill more expensive

Using your phone's data is also a great way to suck up mobile data and make your bill more expensive. Playing music or a podcast on your phone uses the same amount of mobile data as tethering music or a podcast to a laptop or tablet. Data usage is data usage.

databits i do neither, i have spotify and use the offline music when i'm on mobile data, i dont stream music or anything like that, i also dont do tethering to a laptop or anything like that, if i need something like that i find public wifi or i just dont do it

Unless you don’t have unlimited data fool then it’s not a problem.

There is now an Alexa device designed for car use: The Garmin Speak.

I had the Garmin speak for 2 days and it’s not good at all. I went right back to using my Dot in car.
