This is the 8th episode in a series of how to begin painting in pastel. In this episode, pastel artist Avon Waters uses analogous colors to block in values used for the early stages of starting a pastel painting. Analogous colors are 3-5 colors that are side by side on a color wheel. Avon Waters shows the analogous colors he chose, then the matching analogous pastel colors he selected to use to block in the early stages of this painting.
Analogous color is just one of many elements of color theory that he will discuss in this series. The drawing for this art tutorial was done in earlier episodes featuring wet pastel techniques --water soluble pastel techniques --for beginner pastel artists.
