I typically use something from the 3700 series, such as the 3725. That will perform most actions I want in my virtual lab, while not using a tremendous amount of resources. Thanks for watching!
Hello pls i need help when i add the linux machine to my lab in eve ng it doesn’t start when i click start idk how to fix that i tried many different iso images
If you are interested in general networking (i.e. Cisco's Enterprise Infrastructure track), it is absolutely a valid substitute. I haven't used physical equipment in my own home lab for several years now, and I have not found EVE-NG lacking in any way. Cisco themselves are using virtualization in their CCIE labs now, and many CCIE training vendors use EVE-NG as a platform for their lab exercises. I will say that this can still be challenging if you are interested in the Collaboration track. This is one Cisco path that seems to still require some physical equipment. I'll also point out that the DevNet Sandbox can fill in a lot of gaps, in terms of providing free virtual access to many expensive Cisco appliances. Thanks to all of these resources, I think home study labs are easier than ever to have these days.
