@@Turkfrom33 Eid Mubarak, brother! Actually, I've never used ChatGPT before for writing my proposal or thesis. But I tend to use ChatGPT as a tool to correct my writing mistakes. I have found it to be very useful.

I have been using AI to write my essays since gpt-3 lol. It is scary to see the advancement of this technology though but I assume it will help people in almost everything in the future.

Finish sooner. Graduate sooner. Get a job sooner. No need to pay for 6 years of graduate school, if you can do it in just 2 years. Just make sure you read every single output that ChatGPT gives, fact check everything with the original source material, and then cite everything to the source material appropriately. It is still a lot of work, but it's like you have this receptionist to do the nitty-gritty.

You cannot fully trust researchers. There are plenty of liars writing papers and getting funded for crap research. Some are simply liars and in some cases, our tax dollars fund their made up bull crap. AI will be used and students will pass their work off as their work. Hell, how many students visit a convenient diploma mill and pass it along?

I am amazed at just how flat out wrong some of these AI programs can be. I ask a question and it literally makes up an answer. I am not saying it gave me wrong info; it made up a historical fact. I am beginning to think ChatGPT and it's variants are incapable of answering a simple question and the more I fiddle with it, the safer I feel about the future. Glad I am not using it for business or my peers would laugh the hell out of me.

But this comment made me realise that most chat gpt generated text can be distinguished from real , creative writing. This comment lacked originality and is mundane in nature. Now I think I need to reconsider my decision lol.

and all it takes is for you to write down what the AI generates in your own words or to run the AI generated text through a rewriting tool.

"AI checkers" are BS and there is no way to PROVE an AI wrote something. It is very dissimilar to plagiarism, which can be proven.

They're two ways of doing a thesis with AI tool, one is ethical and the other is not. 1: Use AI to research, organize your research, help you understand the topic and so on. In summary, use AI to research before you research. 2: Using AI to do for you the work. Number 1 is ethical and 2 is not but both of them make your life easy.

Why is it not a good idea? I understand that ChatGPT can misinterpret the original text and report jargons or mistakes. Just don't accept ChatGPT's response blindly, without having read the output. Correct the errors that ChatGPT makes and you're good to go! If it's about ethics then using softwares like Grammarly or Quillbot should be questioned as well. But should we really question the use of tools? It's like asking hey, why use MS Word? You're ruining the art of writing using a pen&paper. Yes, it's always better to learn scientific writing. The more we make mistakes, the more we learn but not everyone can afford to do that. There are people whose first language is not English, or maybe someone's a good researcher but not a good written communicator or maybe someone doesn't have enough time to proof read/summarize and needs to get their paper/thesis out ASAP and hundreds of other reasons. If there are tools that can compliment our writing then why not use it? Coders use debugging tools all the time. Imagine doing it manually!

machine helps you, and the ideas are yours. example you can ask the gpt to create a plan for your thesis by writing the subject or the variables of your research. the plan will be not exactly what you need but as a scientific methode of listing the paln it's correct. then you need to ask it to add or modifie some titles or replace it and generate it again. this gonna help you just for the scientific rules like APA rules for example. the Machine can only help and not write in your place if you want realy make your own work not gpt work.

I can tell you that one plagerism detector thought my work was plagerized. Something I wrote long ago, predating the web. The rise of AI detectors is gonna be a problem. At least for awhile. We will simply not know what is real or stolen. My advice? Get a law degree because the workload is rapidly increasing. Forget being an influencer and be the guy that takes the influencers down.
