Data visualization is part art and part science. A data visualization has to accurately convey the data, but also should be aesthetically pleasing. Great visual presentations of data will enhance the message and lead to deeper understanding of the underlying data. In this session, Matthew Hirschey will be speaking with professor Claus Wilke from UT-Austin about his lab's work, data visualization, and discuss important principles of color in making figures. We will use R, ggplot2, and principles of graphic design to dive into beautiful and truthful visualizations of data. This session is brought to you by Heureka Labs (www.heurekalabs.org)

For greater than 7 categories, I would love to be able to incorporate textures with color. Is there a package for that?

I haven't yet come across a great use case for a rainbow color scale. Is there any suitable example of that scale?

Cannot envision a good use case for conveying information, other than perhaps style or flair?
