Very fun solve, one of the best fog of wars I’ve ever done, solved it in 00:26:57

it's interesting... I started with the possible sums (11, 12, ...) and respective compositions where 3 consecutive numbers are left for the renban. With 12 I found a distribution that also satisfied all other visible rules. Now, *assuming there is only one solution to the puzzle* I could deduct, that *this one must be it* and did not have to check further sums... 🤔 Not sure this "assuming the puzzle must be unique" is a valid strategy though 😅

First I didn't saw the white dot in row 5 between the Columns 3 and 4. And then I got stuck till you said "Let's think is this (R7C3) can be a 2" and then I tried and got it. I was able to solve this with you help, Thanks!!😊

It's usually not a bad spot to make conclusions in a cell that's on two Kropki dots. But the esier Box 1 logic has to be about parity. Since the two region sum line parts have to be the same, whatever each part is is doubled, so that an odd number remains for the Renban. That means the Renban line has to have two even and an odd digit: 234, 456, or 678. The region sums then have to be either 18, 15, or 12, because the Renban removes either 9,15, or 21 from the 45 box total. As the uppper region sum line part has 10 on an X, the other digit is 2 5 or 8. Well, for 15 it would need to be 5, that's already on the 456 Renban, so 456 doesn't work. For 18 it would be 8, that seems to work in the first place, the X has to be 19, because 234 are gone, the white Kropki dot could be 12, but then you get a problem on the black Kropki dot as 4 is on the Renban and so you'd need two 1s. Which only leaves 678. The X has to be 19 again, this time not because all other low digits are used up, but because 9 is the only high digit remaining. And the white Kropki dot then has to be 98, and you get started that way. The path through the fog lead you through the region sum line counter clockwise anyway and when you spot possible Sudoku it's going better. The trickiest detail puzzle was in box 8, for me. I think I missed some simpler step to do first, but before you don't reveal the right part of box 8 you don't know whether the region sum line there has 3 or 4 cells. It never can have 5 cells, as 1+2+3+4+5=15, of course. That caused a lot of combinations I had to check, at least for me. I still like the Sudokus you pick and watch your solves, when others may get cross with you not spotting simple things. If you don't have the right idea, you still have the patience and endurance. We obviously never see whenever you give up on a puzzle, but don't stop publishing solves that are taking longer than necessary in retrospect. It's normal to get stuck, happens to the best, too.

Box 8 had two black dots...the vertical one couldnt be 36 and no 1, so 248, must contain the 4..the horizontal one no 1, no 4, had to be 36, 39 pair in box 5 giving the direction and you could see the entire line :) Not sure if you missed the pair in b5, or the 4 being allocated to the vertical dot. PS: the 2 in b4 solves the 12 pair in b5, allowing you to see the 2nd black dot

Thanks for the breakdown and the kind words.

Starting out: a three-cell renban always sums to a multiple of 3: (N-1)+N+(N+1). That means that each branch of the sum-line is a multiple of 3: 12, 15, or 18. The renban must sum to 9, 15, or 21; and 15 breaks the puzzle. 7:30 I'm very sorry, but I kept wincing at hearing "124" and "689" on a renban line.

I found this relatively easy, particularly after completing Lemur's Tale. The break-in is a bit tricky but eventually boils down to one solution, thankfully! And that 4 in Row 5 really eluded you! 😉

The way I solved the opening was to observe that the blue squares had to add to an even number (since they are two lots of the same) so the purple line needed to be odd so had to be two evens and an odd. That means 234, 456 or 678. 456 can be ruled out because then the blue would add to 15 and the one with the X would also need a 5. Whether we have 234 or 678 on the line the X can only be 19. This makes R3C3 2 or 8 which means R3C2 is 4 (since 1 is on the X). That then allows you to place a bunch of digits and get going!

Yes, rather simple really wasn't it.

Used the exact same logic. It was a nice break-in and the rest of the puzzle just flowed nicely after. There were some pleasant deductions through the solve. It's a nice puzzle.

@@LogicLemurGaming It really helps that I have a very mathsy brain! I can't scan to save my life but maths like this just works in my head! Still enjoyed your solve!

That was a cool puzzle. The beginning was very tough, but it gradually became easier as the fog cleared. And please don't call yourself stupid. Puzzles like this require a lot of brain power and the easy stuff sometimes just doesn't compute when thinking about harder things.

Box 1 I could only see one combination to pencil mark, that fitted the clues. But was a little unconfident that I had excluded everything else - yet if the visible part of the grid didn't have a unique solution surely that was the setter's problem not mine. Generous pencil marking and care in eliminating high digits from the line that would break the region sum got me through pretty briskly.

The easy break in: u have 7 ways to fill a 3 long renban 123,234..... 4 of these break instantly while u have 2 region sum lines, and they have an even sum. also must the renban be odd. ur left with 234,456 or 678. the 456 combination 15 on sum lines break on the X while u need a 5 to get to 15. also left wit 234 or 678. with 234 u need a 8 on R1C2 and with 678 u need a 2 on R1C2. there also always 3 even numbers, and a 3 or 7 involved. and for the X is only 19 available. between the dots is also a 2 or 8, and why not the 2 have u figured out.

It's an easy break in once you realise the X sum in box 1 has to be 1-9.
