I feel like people don’t like Lua because it is easier to learn that other platforms because It simplifies game development which makes switching to a full language difficult. The same thing is true with other tools for learning programming like Scratch.
You need to add “Fearsome Critters” to Lumbermill. They are a group of American folk creatures spoken of by lumberjacks. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fearsome_critters I love your stuff, man! Keep it up 👍
@@BWDev Friggin cool of ya to respond! I love your content. Yeah, these things would be a big chore to implement, and you’re working on so much other stuff anyway. Thanks!
What happens when you look up? do you see the sky because the levels weren't generated yet? Maybe add distance fog, to hide the uncreated levels. Also could remove levels under the water to save on memory/render time.
I love your videos. You're an inspiration. I make SaaS, but love playing around with Phaser and SocketIO for multiplayer games. I'm working on an Among Us style game, but more in-line with the movie The Thing, but based in different regions with different objectives.
If he you like core maybe you would like the roblox engine even better. Lots of customisability for such a simple engine and it uses lua just like core.
@@kpm25 so far its only in Alpha state with Physx and Jigglebone support , Bump / Parallax Mapping , Shadow Maps and so on but i don't think ever gonna finish it ;)
@@peteranderson6972 .. cool.. sounds like an awesome project.. I know how you feel.. even if you don't finish it, what you would learn from the experience of making your own game engine is... infinite in itself. :).. I once tried something similar in Matlab with m files... .. (^▽^)
Why don’t you make a second channel where you show all your cording and just a unedited dev log vid cause I think I can learn from your skills maybe think about it 😂❤️❤️ Love vids
I won $500 in the core speedrun competition. The platforming kinda sucks in game cuz of lag on the servers. Also, does the lava speed up? I feel like I could kinda just go for a few hours.
Would love a more detailed tutorial on this explaining your code to create a procedural game like this. Is this game able to be downloaded in Core to pull apart how it works? I noticed your other island map was on there but couldn't see this one for download.
Core is a Roblox competitior not unity or real ue4, tell the marketing team this as they sponcer every real game Dev video and it's so fucking annoying, if something uses Lua then it shouldn't be considered seriously
There are elements of randomness, yes, which can be found in procedural generation. The key procedural part here is that difficulty is guided based on height climbed. I’d have been criticised either way. Edit: I'd also like to add; all random generation is procedural, but not all procedural generation is random.
