Thank you Jerry!! Those were some wonderful tips! I live in Tn and the ground IS like mud right now and my Forsythia is blooming! More to come after learning how easy it is to propagate!!
I'm not an expert in outdoor plants...so I can't really answer that for you. You may want to turn to your local nursery. But, it doesn't hurt to try, right? I plant them all spring and summer here. The trick is they must have plenty of water for the first few months to grow the roots. That's why here in the south...early spring is perfect because we receive so much rain.
