Thanks for the videos Willy. I am just starting out. My machine is controlled by a Masso and I have struggled. My next machine will be a plasma and am researching control methods. I have the gear to use GRBL so I will view all of your build videos for inspiration. Cheers from Australia
@@WillysGarageNorway yes i have viewied all you video and your guide in the web site... i don't speake well english but... im happy for your information very very precious 😀
Hello. Thank you for this video. I'm a beginner and this video does help. I was listening to the noise from the CNC , at around 4:20 to 4:25 . When the motors start moving and therefore accelerate, the noise is quite ...not right in my opinion and I am having exactly the same noise over here. Not smooth, quite rattling. Then when the acceleration is over, the noise becomes more normal & smooth. I am wondering if it ever bothered you (maybe it's just me) and if you ever found a fix for it. Thank T
Hi and thanks for watching :) I think most of the noise comes from the machine itself when the stepper motors are vibrating a bit at the accelerating point. Do tou have a wooden machine the sound will be greater. I have had no problems with this and as I have upgraded the machine the noise have become less 😁👍😄
Thanks for video. Should be possible to get the drawings project of your CNC? I'm trying to build my one, and it should be similar to yours.....but I need some help on mechanical aspets. Thank you.
What a great video. What command sets the height at which the Z axis travels over your workpiece? When I click "Send" my Z axis raises about an inch. I would like to limited this to about a 1/4" or whatever I determine to be sufficient to clear my clamps. Thanks!
Hi willy, I´ve already built a small CNC MILL machine, I´m using UGS too, but last week I made some probes an I´m having problems seting my XYZ zero. Once I put the tool exactly where I want it, I reset the using UGS the same way you do, the first column (XYZ) goes to zero but in the second Column Z zero did do it. Do you have an idea why is that?. You said you are a begginer so am I. I´m using MasterCAM to get de G codes. Now I´m following you cuz I like your job, and I like it because you show the way you solved the problems. Cheers
Hi, thanks for your answer, I´m using exactly the same version of UGS 1.0.9. Work position goes to Zero once I push the reset zero button, but machine position is also with negative values. I´ll prepare a video to show you maybe next weekend.
Thanks for your advice, the main problem is when the CNC finishes, it goes home but crashes (I didn´t install limit switches) and I think it is cause because of the machine possition, here I have short video of the CNC. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F4FYoiuofeU.html
got ugs(arduinoshiled) and when i generate nc file from solid cam it say: error while starting stream null...i am confused cuz files a downloaded from internet work perfectly, would be grateful if you could help me somehow
I am using tb6560 board...8mm lead scrow..........1mm g coad =2560.000 1mm running ............ but continuously not running so what to do......please tell me about this...
Hi, When i was trying to connect to system via ugs, i did not connect ugs was closed immediately. This problem occurs v1.0.9. Also, i tried v1.0.8 same thing happened but there is a difference. When i pressed open first system connected then ugs closed by system. There is a folder which starts that sentence: 'A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:' i uploaded java8. Is there anyone who can help to solve this problem?
Is there a way to prevent endmill scratching the surface of stock from zero position to work lead in position? I was trying to use maximum stock. but after you set zero the machine moves to the lead in position in the same z level until it reaches work lead in. It does not scratch work but the stock.
You set zero point and offsets in the program that you generate your g codes. In UGS you just set the zero point where you decided it to be in regards to the stock 👍😃
@@WillysGarageNorway I do have a question. I am using GRBL. I was trying to send a gcode for tapping in aluminum using UGS. Its getting error. I am guessing Grbl does not support taps. so I tried drilling. I zeroed the machine like your video (zero works and visualization looks perfect) and when i click the send command it shoots up the Y Axis upwards until it hits the limit switch and then shut down. my drilling model was made in Fusion 360. I have no clue why the Y is going up although it is not in the code. any ideas will be much appreciated.
@@vrva3138 Hi, when you are making the toolpath in Fusion 360, there is a banner where you can set different kind of heights. There is travelig height wich is the height the tool is travelig between operations. On my machine I have to set it lower then default. Have you tried changing the heights?
Yes. I figured out that I had an offset in vcarve lol. That point is set prior to ugs I found out. Had a friend walk me thru it. If it weren’t for noobs, there’d be no need for instructables lol
