I wonder how many people realise how clever Jade maneuvered that long log onto the trailer. Physics at its peak! Skills that require lots of practice. Thumbs up if you think Jade was absolutely brilliant.

"It is what it is" !!!! What a splendid long log is was though. And Jade did do a super job lifting it up and spinning it round. We do not get trees that grow so tall and so straight in UK forests - at least, not that I have seen.
@vk2ig
@vk2ig Год назад
Imagine, once the UK had many forests yielding such trees. That's how the Royal Navy managed to rule the seas in the days of sail. When I lived in the UK, I got talking to someone who knew quite a bit about woodworking - he claimed that the skills of picking which trees are best logged for which parts of a sailing vessel are mostly extinct.

@@vk2ig Gosh Vk2ig, you really do turn the knife in to me !!!! My teenage childood (1960 to 1971) was in rural Kent where there were still many large (but short) oak trees. In my 20's and early 30's I used to buy English oak for my work building pipe organs using a lot of quarter sawn timber - often in small sizes. My mother's listed cottage was made from recovered ships timbers, the beams often showing perfect mortices from their previous use in ships. I now live in North Wales where people argue to protect the use of the mountains of Snowdonia for sheep grazing, but these hairy maggots eat every young sapling, and effectively prevent the natural re-forrestation of our mountain sides with hardwoods - which in time would be mainly oak. It was the natural oaks of this area that were used in many famous buildings such as Westmnster Hall. I look at the backdrop of deciduous forest in many pictures of these girls in their amazing timber yard, and I would love to know more about the history of these forests. Are they planted or are they naturally propogated? I refer to the mountain between Douherty run and Wolf run, that is often seen in the videos. As it is brown in winter shots so I guess it is mainly deciduous trees. Sadly, much of our remaining oak in UK is not felled for ttimber because saw mills say that they cannot risk hitting wire and staples inside the timber. It is cut for firewood or just allowed to rot. Burried fencing staples are a great bane, but horse shoes and axeheads are also commonly found. If only there was a cheap way to identify iron before being hit by a blade? Would a metal detector safely achieve this? - if mounted ahead of the blade looking into the top 2" of the log being sawn. John N

Yer right, Jade handled that log like a pro. We had some internet problems here in Niagara Falls Ontario, or at least I did. After some phone calls and other sources, it might have been a bandwidth failure. I have no idea what that really is. So, 17 hours later I got to watch your show. If you would excuse me now, this youtube junkie has some catching up to do.
