Excellent video on using invisible thread. I purchased some a little bit ago but have been wary of using it for just the issues you mentioned. As a newer long armer (

@@APQSQuilting Unfortunately, I don’t have a APQS. It was out of my price range at the time. Also, I wasn’t sure if I would even be able to use one due to back issues, but I found a lower end one that allows me to sit while I quilt. Perhaps one day, I can upgrade to an APQS. A friend has a Millie and I’m very jealous! 😁 I can’t tell you much I have Learned a lot by watching your videos. I constantly come back to hone my skills and learn something new. Even though I have a different machine, for the most part that information transcends brand names. Ever so slowly, I am becoming a better quilter and that is in large part because of APQS. You have my profound gratitude for your dedication to education and professionalism. Not all manufacturers have that magic combination.

You are so right about being afraid to use invisible thread. Your video has given me the confidence to give it a try. Thank you.

What Weight thread should you use in the bobbin if using only clear thread in the needle?

Absolutely the best explanation of how to use "invisible" threads that I have seen! I love all the suggestions, but I have a question. At 15:05 you talk about putting batting in the thread guide above the spool when winding a bobbin. Did I understand correctly that you put the batting in the thread guide on top of the thread after you run the thread through that thread guide? I have had problems with thread jumping out of the tension disc when winding slippery threads (not just "invisible" thread) and guess this would help prevent that.

She said 3.5 if you're using invisible thread in both top and bobbin, but use size 4.0 if you are using a combination of invisible thread with regular thread.
