Thanks for reviewing more niche devices, I've previously had a Palm phone and loved it to pieces but hated how slow it was and the atrocious battery life. I'm planning on getting this for final year of uni to cure my brain rot and hoping it fixes the issues the Palm suffered from.

12:22 you can drag the floating keyboard by the line on the bottom. if you drag it to the bottom edge it expands to full size

Good review, thanks! I've just ordered this to try to replace my iPhone 14 pro. After using it for two years, I think it's way too big and heavy for my needs. That said, for me the main shortcoming of iOS is the fact that there is no way to play two audio source at the same time. I want to listen podcasts/audiobooks/tts web pages while listening some background music from Spotify. While it's not super straightforward, that's possible on Android. So, even if it cannot become my daily driver, at least it will be my "walkman".

Idk about other android ui; but you can easily control multiple audio sources on Samsung's One ui. A base s23 or s24 would be the way to go, unless you'd prefer a midrange phone like the a55.

One of my first smartphones was an xperia x10 mini. Beside the very very useful physical keyboard, I could type on-screen by using a numerical pad (as you would do on old cellphones to text) or hold the device horizontal for a bigger keyboard. Never had issues with it.

I don't disagree with this, I'm a little concerned by them too so don't/didn't do my main banking etc on the device.

i get a day on mine, it'll run anything, I wish the torch was on the top and the headphone and usbc was facing the same direction, or just get rid of the headphone port, I use it as a bike computer a free bike light would be really cool

Hello, awesome video, how'd you remove the extra space/ bar under the keyboard ? Mine has a useless bar with an arrow pointing down used to retract the keyboard off the screen , but i don't need it and it tskes so much space .

Afew years ago we used 3" screen phones as our daily without complain...like the nokia 311...alot of phones speake n mike are in that same position as this...

I used one last year from October til December. General performance is alright, but the camera never really focused and that annoyed me.

Does this support video chats on Whatsapp or just messages? I take it no issues with banking apps or emails? And what about common apps - Strava, eBay, Amazon, Kindle Reader, Netflix...

It supports calls/video calls etc and all the apps you've listed. It's just an Android 13 phone in a smaller package. Obviously the screen will be small for watching/reading but it can do it.

I tried to keep my Jelly 2 going, but the main cons I had were the battery size and the dropped calls. I'm not sure if the dropped calls were a Verizon thing, but the whole point of a cell phone is for it to be a phone. So I had to go back to my Pixel 6a. The Pixel has huge battery life and also updated to the most recent Android, which none of the Unihertz phones will. That's another con, I guess, though not as major. Along with the dropped calls was issues with blutooth. So I think the antennae are just too squished in the small form factor of the phone. I'm waiting to see if the new Unihertz Jelly Max solves some of the issues with the Star/Jelly 2. I'm fine with it having a larger screen as long as it also has a larger battery and better antennae.

if they do an e ink on the max I'd get one, I'm sticking with the star for now. e ink youtube is decent, and the displays use less battery. This is a VERY good company, I highly recommend the unihertz product
