This scene not having a random panda Trueno randomly come from behind, overtake both cars, and then disappear for the rest of the movie, is one of the biggest Ls in cinema history.
The camera angles, shot selection, and overall storyboarding of this scene felt very initial d inspired and having eurobeat over it just confirms it in my head
Tsuchiya Keiichi was featured in the film, he’s the real “drift king”, and not only was he the inspiration for Takumi due to popularizing the drift scene with an AE86, he directly helped with the production of the show

Legit, like I get it's fast and furious but they got into knocking each other way too early. And I get it's a movie that has to have mass appeal but like come on, even the drifting in initial d is in most circumstances slower than grip, and these guys were just pulling the handbrake like a drift from entry to exit is the only way to be fast, and fishtailing on exits. Kinda makes the racing look as dull as the plot
The way Shingo does it in Initial D where he just taps cars to throw them off balance make sense. I can see people making that trade off. But this guy just destroyed both their cars with the way he was doing it

Initial D had tons of effort poured into making battles realistic and awesome at the same time. F&F was never about realism + it's 2000s live action not animated that's why it looks so bad compared to initial D
