Oh thank God! I thought I was going out of my mind! LOL I've been wanting to use this DAW since I got it but haven't had the time or patience to figure out how to map it correctly. You rock, my friend! Looking forward to watching more on the Oxygen Pro controllers and MPC Beats, for sure!!
I figured out how to get the record button to stay on when using the M-audio oxygen pro. In MPC Beats. In learn mode(makes sure that box is expanded as far as it goes showing the "target, Type, CH, Data, and Flip" Click flip and then press the record button. It will trigger it to hold and you dont have to use the mouse as much. Awesome videos by the way
You are so THOROUGH - I followed this all the way through for my first ever "keyboard" of any sort (this very one I got yesterday) - and every time I thought "Hey...you haven't addressed THIS or THAT..." - you then did!! Huge appreciation from London, England - will be watching your other Pro Mini and MPC Beats vids :-)
Just wanted to say thank you for the insight as I'm just delving into electronic music production, having played drums for the better part of the last 20 years. I have a focusrite 2i2 studio bundle that I'm learning to use while recording drums on Reaper from my e kit. I look forward to learning a lot, including music theory from your videos! I bought mine from Zzounds using your link too! 🙌🏽🥁
Hey Doug i love your Videos. I got the pro mini because of your recommendation and i love it so far. The only main downer for me is, that it is very frustrating to use it with ableton 11. I would really appreciate a quick introduction on how to at least get it connected and mapped. Since ableton is my Main DAW.
Hey DSoundman, thank you for all your videos, I love them and all of them have been super helpful. I got the Oxygen Pro Mini short ago and every time I had a doubt about anything, I would look for answers and you were there with the best help!! Thanks for your work!!!
Hey, DSoundman. Just wanna update you on the 'New Midi mapping for the Pads. I think this could be from the new firmware. When the Enable & Learn icons are invoked, there is now no existing MIDI files to choose from. Instead, the dialog box shows 'New Midi Mapping'. But the procedure for personalising the Pads remains the same; thus, after defining them, I exported to a self-named file. Thereafter, when I enter MPC Beats again, this file will appear by default. Only snag is, if I have many such MIDI mappings, once I import a new one, I have to press 'Refresh' icon to download the newly imported file. Lastly, M-Audio should give you a job for providing such tutorials for the Oxygen Pro Mini! There is no such tutorials on their website; unless someone from M-Audio tells me otherwise. You're my guru for this instrument, Bro!! D' Best!! Staying subscribed to yr channel....!
Bugs aren't the word....lol. I have the 49 pro and I created my own mapping to make it work as functional as possible. I'm gonna purchase a MPC Studio soon.
I guess they are more mapping issues than bugs...pardon the terminology...lol I own the MPC Studio and can confirm the mapping between that and MPC 2 (the full featured version of MPC Beats) is perfect. I haven't been able to spend as much time as I'd like with MPC Studio, but so far I love the way it works!
Your videos are fantastic! You got a Sub outta me! As someone else said, "User" in the Global/learn menu is greyed out. Know any reason why? Thanks for all your help!
When assigning the pads it might look like two pads are assigned, however, look carefully - it's showing you the same note an octave higher or lower. Unless you're hearing a note and it's octave at the same time there are not actually two pads assigned to your learned pad.
Happy New Year everyone! Great video Doug, this and mpc loop one helped me in my beginner steps with m-audio oxygen pro mini. With the latest version of mpc beats and oxygen pro firmware, it seems the pads work great natively without the need for a custom profile. But,there is still the problem with knobs and transport controls. The knobs i managed to fix using the learn function you showed us but the transport buttons are not yellow when i click on learn,i cant apply learn to them. Tx, Kat Bucharest Romania
Great video, thak for the effort. I also use Oxigen Pro Mini. What I do not understand is when I export my midi map and later inport again to restore my learned midi map - nothing happens. Is there any trick to get this work? Thanks for the work.
Hey... thank u so much for your videos... so helpful... can u please let me know how to make have the same volume for the pads? Everytime i hit the same pad, i get different volume ... it is never the same number... can you please help me how to solve this problem?
Thanks for the help but my 4th and 8th keys are playing delay (i.e. playing sound when press 2-3 times) also while setting up these 2 keys were not taking commands but somehow later it took, keys are fine i have played them in FL. Dont know what to do please help
Such great videos dude! Just got my Oxygen Pro 49 and I love it! I'm a bass player that loves electronics and synths, but there's so much to learn, hahaha. You're making my life a lot easier!!! Thanks!
Hello. Why sometimes MPC Beats react like you shows and other time didn´t work? Pads are not working like in 7:00-8:00 min...for example etc??? Thank´s
Hi Douglas, Very interesting videos. I'm new on the site and my question might be redundant but have you got any tutorial about the latency on the Oxygen Pro Mini. Thanks for your answear and take care!
Yo DSoundman, I've been having trouble mapping my pads on the Oxygen Pro Mini in MPC Beats... I follow your video, but when I do the whole learn process and tap on the pads, it doesn't assign anything. Any help would be much appreciated, man!
For anyone wondering the greyed out User -button when trying to create your own MIDI-maps, here's a veeeery convenient way to do that (thank you @Q. V. !!!!). Here's the answer: "I clicked learn on the factory mapping and tried to assign the pads then clicked learn again to turn it off. I then clicked the quick help button on the bottom left and then I was able to create custom mappings" It just works this way😂
Is there any way we can get the faders to work with the mixer in MPC beats? Mine just don't seem to work and there is no Learn function available to assign them 😫
I just Received My Pro mini from Sweetwater and I am A Guitarist,,, so..... Thank You So Much. Subscribed . & DEFINITELY !!! Liked I'm getting there... BUT... give me a house for RECORDING .... got Ya COVERED BUT ! condense it down ..... I'm SCREWED !!!!!
It didnt work for me to customize the pads 😢 i try clicking but they seem to not connect to the program although I selected all that you recommended. What ca I do? Thank you 🙏🏻
I had trouble too so what I did was go to the Global tab under the MIDI Learn panel and right click on one of the targets. It will say “Clear MIDI Mapping” after you click on that go ahead and assign the pad to whatever you want.
Are dose setting are the same for the oxigen 49 mkv? And Wich one you recomend me, Oxigen pro mini or Oxigen pro 49? I’m not a piano player, I play trombone.
Hello Dough, thank you for your videos, have been very helpful to use my oxygen pro mini, I have tried to configure it with reaper without success, I will really appreciate if you can help us to use it with reaper. Thank you again and congratulations for your channel
Is it possible to assign different keys zones on Oxygen Pro Mini? Like splitting the left half to play an instrument and right half for another instrument on MPC Beats?
Whahaha i did just that and the damn software says i have an M-audio oxygen MKV (i have a pro) so NOTHING works. If one is a "noob" they even allow you to "update" the firmware on it, yeah the Oxygen 49 MKV. And yeah i dont have the midi maps, since the f ing software thinks i have an different keyboard... And yeah windows says its an "Oxygen 49 pro" in device manager. Not to mention it took 20 HOURS before they gave me a link to the software.. But yeah liked the video, since i now made my own mapping :P thnx
Installed everything today... Is there no was to install it to another drive? I don't want multiple gigs of this sitting on my fast main drive, the normal ssd would be more than enough...
I'm trying to go in the User tab under Factory in the Midi learn window, but my User tab is greyed out and I can't access the copies of the midi maps! Would anyone know what to activate in under to get to the user dropdown menu so I can use this method ? Thanks !
I don't know exactly how I fixed it but this worked for me. I clicked learn on the factory mapping and tried to assign the pads then clicked learn again to turn it off. I then clicked the quick help button on the bottom left and then I was able to create custom mappings
desperately trying to map the oxygen 49 NOT pro but everything i can find is just talking about the pro. when i try to enable a new map on mpc beats i can’t assign positions like you can. i click learn and press A01 and then a corresponding pad and though it lights up it doesn’t assign it :( similarly when i hit pads it doesn’t jump to the pad i hit like yours does in the global status bar
Hey man, complete noob here.. but at 7:46 when I go to factory, then m audio, the mini doesn't show up..? Any idea why or what to do to make it show up? I have updated mpc beats as well
Your MIDI mapping issue could be the result of a firmware bug. I have found that applying a new preset with DAW/Preset does not always take, or even applies a scrambled map! When the default DAW is Ableton, I have found switching to any preset I have made inverts the sustain pedal, the faders, and drops out fader 9. I worked around that by setting the default to ProTools, somehow switching around after that didn't cause any issues. More recently I decided to get into MPC Beats and the controller never maps itself to the MPC profile! I can use the M-Audio tool to pull/inspect the mapping for the MPC profile but when I apply it the resulting map isn't right. I haven't yet dug in deep to see how wrong it is, but at first glance the drum pad colors are not the correct MPC colors. I've raised the issue with M-Audio and they don't seem to care very much. Completely ruins this controller for me. I use it to control DAWs, synths, iOS apps and need those custom profiles.
Thank you for your video! I have a little issue - I already activated Mini Grand but can't activate Hybrid and Velvet. Of course, I have Oxygen Pro Mini. Can anybody help me with that?
@@DSoundman I solved a problem, anyway thx! I will watch your all videos. Could you make a tutorial for making live music in a loop adding the next samples and beats?
I Don't know what happened. I did all this last week and totally worked. Today I click LEARN and doesn't seems to work, nothing happens. It doesn't let me create my own mapping either.
Hi Doug - am using the Oxygen Pro mini with MPC2 software (the pro version). I cannot get the MIDI learn function to work. No matter what pads or transport control I click on when learn is selected , the values do not change. Even if I create new MIDI map - none of the values change when I hit the pads or transport. It is definitely hooked up to MIDI and the pads and keys work, but cannot make it learn new values. Any ideas ? thanks!
apologies - sussed it. In MPC 2 go to edit>preferences>midi sync. Under MIDI Input Ports, enable CONTROL for the Oxygen Pro Mini instances. Sucks that M Audio haven't updated the mappings out of the box !
Haha yep, I was just about to reply and ask if you had control turned on in the preferences! Glad you figured it out and yeah, I wish it worked right out of the gate!
@@DSoundman one thing I still cannot get mapped are the step forward and back buttons on the transport control. The > buttons on the Oxygen mini. I can see they are default mapped to ch.13, but my mini is txing on c.h.1. I can't change it on the MPC UI either
@@DSoundman I am losing the will to live with the Oxygen Pro Mini and MPC. I cannot get the faders to have any impact at all. They do not appear to be available in the MPC learn views. Is there any way around this? I was hoping to use the volume sliders on the Pro mini to alter track volumes etc. Any help from anyone would be appreciated! Thanks all
Ableton and FL studio works flawlessly with oxygen pro mini and are fully customizable. MPC beats is absolute embarrassment with these remapping problems and I seriously regret installing it over ableton just to try it out because UI looks nicer. I just want my keyboard to work as a beginner and not have to look up five different tutorials just to get my hardware to work as it should. And also you need to look for free expansions instead of them being included, while Ableton trial and FL studio trial come with bunch of free samples that you can use to try out the software.
Has anyone get 'record' button on the Oxygen Pro Mini working with MPC Beats? Sadly pushing it on the keyboard controller does not cause any action in MPC Beats. I have factory midi map for OPM loaded and DAW mode is set to MPC. Trying to 'learn' record button does not work. In ableton it works tho...
In the MIDI mapper > View [transport]. Select [Record] in the type column next to Record select toggle. Click learn [the record button is highlighted]. Press the rec button on the MINI Pro. Click learn off. Now test by hitting rec on the recorder. Both the rec and the play button should flash.
The pad issue I referred to is on the oxygen pro mini, you can't program more than 16 pads, but you are right, you wouldn't need more than that with MPC Beats anyway. I'm going to see if I can program the bank up/down buttons on the controller to cycle through banks a-h inside MPC Beats.
Why do these companies tell you they have a map that works when they don’t? I was going insane and finally also used my own custom map, but you can’t really change pad banks.
The best video ever...so your mistake is you use 25 keys...who bouth that....49 or 61 is the best choise...if you change the name you will have more subs....thanks1
One problem is that you seem to think all listeners are English/American. I'm quite good in English, but since you're talking very fast you don't realize that some of us need to 1. understand and quickly translate for ourselves what you're saying 2. Understand all the tectional terms you're using. Otherwise good performance!👋
@@therayriversshow8055 Come on!! I didn't complain about the English language! I didn't expect him to speak Yiddish!! I listen to plenty of guys talking 'bout guitars and other stuff. No problem! But just this guy is a bit speedy, that's all. If you're English borne you should be happy that you are lucky enough to speak a language that lots of people have to learn. Now, do you really think he's speaking only to the British market? Good Night to you!!!!
