As a 57 yo, I can say with certainty that all trends in makeup and fashion cycle on a continuous loop. Glossy lips were the rage in the 70s. Late 80's I only wore a matte red lip. Today, I wear whatever makes me happy each day. Trends are inspiration not law, and not all trends work for all people.
I don't think I've ever followed a "trend", I know what suits me and I know my own personal style. No wait! I did have the super skinny eyebrows back in the day. I loved them. Ive since grown them out and love them now just as much. That's maybe a trend I've happily followed.
Here here, I'm 52 and ironically I actually worked in the makeup industry for many years but trends were never for me. I know what I like and what works for me. I've made adjustments over time as I've gotten older but I'll leave the trends for the young people who are still trying to figure out who they are and what they're personal style is.
I still use old palettes!! I’m with you, if it’s only for personal use (not applying the makeup to anyone else) and you sanitize it periodically/always use clean brushes it’s no big deal
I got a travel size spray bottle to put alcohol in so I can spray down my older palettes when I want to use them. No problems so far! I really think it's important to sanitize your eyeshadows from time to time.
I have (powder) pallets 10+ years old that I use regularly (and mix with new products 😉).... I've also had products that I did throw out after few months, because something felt wrong with texture or scent 😳 I never use my shadows, products, brushes, and tools on anyone else. So in short: I agree, that personal collection does not expire on the "date stamped on the package" but depends on the product and user quality 😊
I still have a Wander eyeshadow pallet from 7 years ago that is still going strong I use it every week …I swear it has to be the never ending eyeshadow pallet 😅
This maybe weird, but your videos are super calming to watch. Like no crazy music playing, crazy jump cuts or montages. Just relaxing and calming. I watch you while I work and you keep me sane!
i remember watching your videos when i pulled an all-nighter packing up my freshman dorm and crying on march 13, 2020 when we were evacuated from campus at the very beginning of the pandemic. i'm about to start my senior year of undergrad and i feel like you've helped me along the pandemic/post-pandemic(ish) healing journey. just, thank you!

I am 49 years old, and until 2017, the only places i bought makeup was WalMart and Walgreens. I had never bought makeup in a department store or even Target, and didn't even know what Ulta and Sephora sold in their stores. (Clothes? Tools? Decor? I literally had no idea.) I had never even really watched YT until that summer. My daughter (now 15) showed me some creators she was watching, including James C and Manny MUA, and a few others. I had absolutely no idea the makeup world was such a big thing; my entire makeup collection could fit in a TSA-approved liquids bag, and i owned less than 5 makeup brushes. Now, i'm sure i could be called "enthusiast", "collector", maybe even "hoarder" or "wasteful" by some, but i don't care in the slightest. It brings me joy and fun, and sometimes even gives me a reason to get up and spend some energy on myself (chronic illnesses make that something not to take for granted). Anyway, it's fascinating to take a look back and remember where we came from, so we can appreciate where we are. ❤
I just did a ‘doing my makeup like I used to ten years ago’ video and made me realise how CRAZY I used to look, my concealer was DARKER than my foundation it was so bad!! 😂😂 x

I've only had the Sweet Peach palette for about 3 months, and it is the only eye shadow I brought with me on vacation! We're traveling today, and this video comes up and I startled my husband when I squealed! 😂

For Hourglass blushes, have you tried “Mood Exposure “ ? It’s very plumb-y, lavender, cool toned.. but in such a soft, wearable way ! I don’t feel like cool toned pinks look the best on me, so whenever I do a cool toned eye look, that’s the one I reach for 💜

I cannot believe it has been 5 years already with some of these products. The Hourglass Vanishing Stick feels like it just came out. Same with Lash Paradise (my most repurchased mascara). Twenty years with BareMinerals OG Original loose mineral powders! Over BB cream, tinted moisturizer, tinted sunblock, or all by itself, this stuff handles whatever I throw at it. I'm 62, fair skinned with cool undertones, sensitive skin with oily T-zone and rosacea patches with weird texture, applied with a puff, damp sponge or brush - this is my BFF.
Hi Allie, I have been using the Covergirl Cheekers blush for at least 30 years and I still love it. I do have many other blushes that I use but the Cheekers was always my holy grail.
I always look forward in watching your makeup tutorials videos. You always do an amazing job. All the products you used on this video, I still use till this day.

I remember that was the year I graduated and I remember I had very little makeup. The only things I used were the Urban Decay all nighter foundation, Mac concealer in the little pot, Rimmel eyeliner, Bourjois blush and MAC lipsticks, and maybelline mascara. I just kept rebuying these same products. That was it, brows, eyeshadows, highlighters and lip liners simply did not exist in my mind. With Covid I really got into makeup and have now amassed a mountain of it, and discovered more brands I never knew about before via RU-vid
I did the same thing after watching this video and used as much of the makeup as I used to from 2018 when I started getting into makeup. I gotta day, I still use a LOT of the same products as well but my technique and application of all of them has gotten SO much better. And I have to say, my makeup was FLAWLESS all day and even held up through walking around in the 90+ degree heat all afternoon. I didn’t get big in to the peach palette, but I LOVED the TF Chocolate Bar palette and it was my first palette purchase 💕
I'm still using old palettes and I repurchase the loreal true match foundation. This foundation is so easy to use for me. I don't have to think about applying. Some products are really gems for most of us.
My EL foundation was double wear light (the original version) . They discontinued it after 10 years . I miss it . I use Lancôme and others now . I love my makeup now and my skins been perfectly healthy and no acne since I quit EL products.
@@patty4393 it was but you know my dryness and skin issues with acne went away when I stopped using their line . It makes me wonder if I struggled for 10 years because of it and their skincare..
Double wear is still my go 2....on your recommendation. My first high end foundation. Still beats the rest and the only foundation I trust to look flawless all day everyday. Love u and love ur vids....all the way from nz!!!
Ok I didn’t realize how long I had been subscribed until you brought up the BB face base and the Estée Lauder because I *swear* I watched the video where you first tried the face base! HOWWWWW
I still use Estée Lauder on most days when I wear makeup. I’ve found that I can spray fix plus first and that it kind of “waters” down the foundation so I get less coverage but still that glorious all day no budge wear.
I also still have the Double Wear foundation and Lash Paradise mascara😅 i no longer use the mattyfing powder from Rimmel. I have others that are better for me. And yes, I think we all use a more natural makeup these days. The Double wear is only for special events. I no longer use it daily. But I still have it 🥰
What fun! I discovered YT Beauty in 2018, so a lot of these products were still talked about then. You guys made it look so fun I dove in and joined the RU-vid beauty community last year. It is so much fun! I used the Age Rewind long before I found YT and still use it now. Love it lots. Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless is another one I've been using forever.

The products that instantly remind me of that era are: abh dip brow pomade, modern renaissance palette, glow kits, maybelline lash sensational mascara, colourpop matte liquid lipsticks and also matte nude stiletto nails oh and I think tarte shape tape 😮💨 oh the good old days, I didn’t wear makeup (still kinda don’t) but whenever a beauty guru pulled one of those products I was like “she knows what’s up, she knows what she’s talking about 😎”
I discovered the Sweet Peach and Benefit Brow pencil back in 2017 too! My palette also still smells like peach too. I need to pull it back out because I forgot how much I loved it back in the day. Too Faced was my first high end brand. I adored the 2014 Chocolate palette too and still have that. One of the shades broke a little when I dropped it in 2018 but it's still usable--I just pressed it back in. I also loved the original Natural Matte and Natural Eye palettes. In fact, I lost my original 2015 Natural Matte in 2017 when I moved. I was very sad because Honey Butter was my favorite shade from that palette. So I recently bought a new one through Poshmark. I'm so glad to have it back! I like the newer 2018 Natural Matte but I was disappointed when they didn't include it in the new one. I still like to check out the newer Too Faced palettes in the same metal packing though. The 2020 Pumpkin Spice palette is the last one I've purchased. When they released the new 2022 Chocolate palette I was interested but wanted to wait until they had it in stores so I could swatch it. I'm glad I didn't get it because the reviews for it were not good and they were right about the shades/formulas. If they release a fall/winter palette for the holidays, as always, I'll check it out! Thanks for sharing this nostalgia makeup! I tried the Hourglass Vanish stick foundation back in 2018 but I couldn't find a shade that worked for me as that brand tends to be too yellow. But the latest one is divine and the shade range is better so I found one that worked for me!!!!
I remember all of those favorites and wanting them because you loved them lol. One of the first times I ever went to sephora, a girl who worked for too faced used that pallet on me. Crazy how fast time goes!
Sweet peach also has a place in my heart. It’s my first ever eyeshadow palette, it has been through so much with me during my college life. It’s not my favorite color stories and formula anymore, but I think I’ll hold on to it for a while! Love that we have something in common 😍 also the palette was a gift from my mom for Christmas ❤️
I have purchased so many pallets with many different price points. I still like to get into my Wet N Wild 10-pan pallets and play around. I bought all of them when I first discovered what a ‘dupe’ was. I think at this point I actually have all the high-end originals but I so enjoyed the dupe hunt!
Some of the products I still use are the too faced born this way foundation, collection lasting perfection concealer, rimmel powder and benefit brow pencils!

I still use my Sweet Peach palette on a regular basis. If they ever discontinue it, I will definitely purchase a back up. And I’m late to the game…I just recently bought ABH’s Soft Glam and Modern Renaissance. I also still use my Painterly paint pot and I put a layer of Lash Paradise waterproof under a layer of Too Faced BTS mascara. Never got on the matte lipstick phase though.
Awe, Allie. I may have a problem. I love the steps to makeup application so much but I felt sad on how you edited your above video because it cut to the next scene SO QUICKLY without us seeing the full makeup application. 😂 The edits sped up the process and now I have join a support group. Just kidding, but I do love watching the process. Thank you for the video 🥰.
Literally all of my palettes are 5+ years old & I'm fine. 😆 I can't afford buying them every two or three years. And most of them are almost untouched. 😅
