Dear every dude that feels the need to point out that they can skin a squirrel faster than me. Congratulations. You're probably right. I don't know what kind of validation you think you get from telling strangers you're a better squirrel skinner than them, but the rest of us don't really care. To the ones that have actually given good tips (wet the squirrel down, use snips, etc), thanks for doing so without being rude and condescending.
I literally just started skinning squirrels and I honestly think you have complicated a very easy thing. For training or for people cant exert the force necessary this would be a god send, but it's not the most straight forward item
I use Electricians scissors. They are heavy duty and can literally cut any bones the squirrel has, including his head. An interesting invention. You should patent this device and sell it.
I can't skin a squirrel faster than you or can't skin one cleaner either!! lol I have cleaned a lot of them through the years and I am looking for different ways now that I am handicapped. Your holder is the best set up I have seen yet! Thank you!
These have been commercially made and sold for years. They have several different names. Hunters helper is one, The squirrel cleaning buddy is another. Ridge Runner outdoors sells them on face book. I made my own out of a old traffic sign. Very easy to make. Good video bud.
Nice. I use the tail skinning method as well by standing on it. Having both hands free would be a huge bonus. Nice recovery after cutting off the tail, this device made child's play out of a bad situation. Also appreciate how you keep as much hair off as possible
Maybe that would help if I used the thing he had in the video. I normally step on the tail and pull the legs. By the time I'm cutting the leg skin off the friggin fur is all over.
I read other comments before I decided to comment. I think everyone has their own way of skinning the squirrel and they believe it’s right but I’m trying to learn. Thank you for the video
We still cut the fur across the back, slip your fingers in and pull both directions,,fur will peal up to neck and almost all the way back over the hind legs,,,,
I noticed in the comments nobody said well done on the shooting.. So I will.. I've eaten enough shattered bones and bloodshot meat to appreciate a well shot squirrel.. Congrats Amigo enjoy your meal.. Nice setup on that jig too.
That looks way easier than how I do it! But I've been trying to save pelts so the meat gets pretty hairy sometimes. Not the best. Definitely want one of those squirrel skinners! Thanks for the video. God bless you and your family.
Snakeman 48 I do not sell these. There are several styles for sale out there from different manufacturers. For the price though, I'd try to make one yourself. If you've got access to a welder and grinder you can make one happen pretty easy.
This looks like it would make the process simpler. Although I don't have major issues with the way I do it except the friggin fur always gets all over. Wetting it didn't help much. Any other suggestions to deal with the fur would be great. It's a nightmare to get off later.
It sure beats holding one end while dad pulls on the other when I was a kid. It ought to be pretty easy to rig one up on a hitch or one that could be strapped to a tree.
@@rudybrooks3722 i do. Skinned my first one last month. Which is what promted me to look at this product lol i didnt quite have the hand grip to pull the skin up over the head with the tail method 😅 So ima find me one of these to help with my next one
I do not sell them. I just made this one in my garage for me and the kids to use. If you look around on Amazon or eBay someone is usually selling a version like this.
I've only seen them in metal, but that doesn't mean that one couldn't be printed. I slapped this together in my garage, so the design is just in my head. If you look around the internet you can find measurements for making one of these. If you have success making one let me know on here and I'll pass that on to my buddy with a printer.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zZZ4yt3Q5MM.html I'm sure you could make one prettier or better than mine. I think the original plans I found in an old magazine were supposed to have larger foot holes, but I don't remember what they were supposed to be.
I didn't see any mention at the end where he cuts off the genitalia at the crotch. You need to remove 2 glands at the rear crotch area. Just make a V shaped cut between the legs up to the apex of the tail. Not much meat, but those glands will make the meat really musky. The glands are one on each side of the anus. If you don't like the squirrel meat, that's probably why.
I guess its supposed to show case the contraption, but I'd bet my bottom dollar there is someone down south who would walk over a t bone to eat one of those things and makes one cut and cuts the head and feet off in a couple seconds.
Not all of us can be the quickest squirrel skinner on RU-vid. You're going to have to compete with all the rest of the boys that feel the need to tell the world how amazing they are at skinning critters in RU-vid comments though.
Well, you're kind of wrong. It's not a lost skill. There's loads of guys out there still that can skin in a squirrel in 30 seconds or less while blindfolded with one hand tied behind their back while riding a tiltawhirl. Most of them are in the comment section here complaining about me skinning squirrels too slowly.
I don't cut and edit videos to make myself look like a rockstar at everything I do. Maybe that's embarrassing to some, but not me. Being rude in RU-vid comments is embarrassing where I'm from.
Great job, Tommy! Man, I'm so impressed with your ability to say you can do it faster. That's really amazing. Can I get your autograph? I want to shake your hand.
