I think "free" in Portuguese means "$10 per month". Gee, this really is a good tool. It enables you to make $10 per month on any item you offer for "Free!". Interesting concept!
Less than 2 minutes in and this guy provided so much value just by demonstrating his use case, a use case so many of us copious note takers have engaged in for years.
@@jomsburner Read back the AI summary of something you have forgotten about? How do you know if the summary includes/excludes key points from your perspective?
Tiago showed you exactly how he quality checked it in the video. He showed you them side by side. Also, if you are the author then quality checking the AI will be easier.
@Tiago Forte ... this is the biggest challenge with AI ... how do you know the summary is correct ? You don't ... not unless you understand the source material. In your case with this example it was useful because you had knowledge and you needed help to create a summary. How many individuals will fall into the trap of depending on AI as a substitute for knowledge they don't possess.
Fellow BSB'er here (cohort 15!), same impression as others: An AI summary of someone else's text is nice and all ... But not the same thing as progressive summarization, and more importantly, *perspective*. What's resonating with you, what's relevant to your line of work, supporting where you're going. Those six hours you put into your notes were hard work that will pay off, but those Notion AI features really didn't add much.
I think you're missing the point. The AI doesn't make it "better". It just makes it more accessible. Using the summaries will allow you to know what's there rather than every little detail. It's like adding a subtitle or teaser under your title so you know what's there since your original brain can't remember everything.
Awesome tips my friend! I'm Brazilian. I'm so happy to know you're releasing your book here in Brazil. We're lacking this kind of content here. Some days ago I recommended your content to my boss, but no one here knows how to speak English, and there's nothing in Portuguese about that. I have translation skills and I'd love to work with you in this project. If you want to talk more about that please let me know.
Today I wrote, on purpose in Portuguese. Sorry about that
I haven't tried using AI before, but after watching this video I had to give it a try. I asked it to give me an outline on a topic that's just an "idea card" for a blog post in Notion, looks promising so far 😅
I can't imagine this solution replacing progressive summarization. AI can't capture your own view point. But, this is a good first pass to help you recall what the book was about.
Thank you! Love your book and videos , the calm clear presentation of them. First discovered you on Ali’s book review channel . Enjoy your beautiful little family and thank you for all your sharing :)
I have used Grammarly for some time when writing out my content. I like the notion (pardon the pun) of having an A.I. embedded in a service that does everything. My only worry is just how safe is Notion? I have used Apple notes for a long time primarily as it belongs to the Apple ecosystem so my data belongs to me. But more and more, I am seeing the potential of Notion and how it can benefit my workflow. For all of you Notion users out there, how comfortable are you with your data?
Hey Tiago, I absolute love your methods and I was wondering if there were any other tools to take notes from audio books? I currently use the method you mention in this video by just jotting down a quick note in an app, but sometimes I'm cooking, cleaning, or doing other random things that make it difficult to take notes while I'm listening. I have defaulted to writing down a quick timestamp on a post-it so I can go back and take a proper note later, but that's messy and wastes a lot of time backtracking. Also... I sometimes lose the notes. Please share any advice you may have!
I would suggest for you to take a look on that video of Thomas Frank explaining how to automate audios into notion transcript. I found that quite helpful
if you have an android phone with google assistant active (and a headset instead of listening on speakers) you can queue "take a note" and wait for the response, and you can dictate the note and google will save it in your account. then you "ok google....(wait)...resume playing"
Hell Tiago bro, Please do reply 🙏. I am confused. You use Notion for 2nd brain , You also use Evernote for 2nd brain. What data you store in Notion ? and what data in Evernote ? Please do share, i feel confused when multiiple apps are used to store data.
Hi. Can you make a video of how you organize your TODO daily notes? My TODO start to look big and it just creates anxiety for me to even start doing anything on those lists.
Muito legal! Eu sou do Brasil e suspeitava pelo seu sobrenome que havia alguma raiz brasileira no seu sobrenome! Vai ser um sucesso seu livro por aqui!! Eu estou animada para compartilhar sobre ele
The integration of Notion AI takes your notetaking work to the next level, saving you valuable time and transforming your notes into actionable resources.
Thank you for your video. I have a question. Is there a reason why you prefer taking notes manually instead of using AI-powered tools to summarize the book by chapter or page and then select the most valuable information?
So this is what notion is useed for? Had no idea, but I will now be using it. Thanks for the tips. However, this is not worth $10 a month. Not even close.
Tiago - this is an incredibly helpful video and I have a question. I took BASB, and a lot of the value of progressive summarization, from what I remember, is that in reviewing and summarizing your notes, it forces you to think deeper, which cements the learning in a deeper way. Using AI for summarization makes the note more valuable the next time you visit it, but you lose out on what's maybe more important, which is the additional learning that comes from reviewing a note. How are you thinking about this with this new AI tool from Notion?
That's very true, and something I'm trying to figure out right now for myself: the balance between using AI to save time and effort, while also continuing to engage with information in a way that enriches your thinking and life
It also helps reinforce if you write everything by hand and then read it and type it out again by hand and then talk to someone about it etc. But then you're missing out on the time saving features. Really we want to do the 20% that gets the 80% of the value, and skip over the 80% of effort that gets us that last 20%
I wonder if a deep dive into the differences and similarities between reading for entertainment (whether it's about the plot, the author's writing style, or both) and reading for actionable information (which, to me, is just as engaging--if not more--than reading a novel) would help "settle" this "debate". If I need information on how to start organizing my Google Drive using the PARA method, I'd much rather have the 4 steps immediately at my fingertips than the personal knowledge that I've read all of the words and sentences in whole and in order. Sometimes just having timely and efficient access to the information in an organized manner is the most important thing, and the guilt (not in quotations, b/c it's real) of not having used AI just acts as a roadblock, especially now where I'm out of school and I'm not worried about plagiarism, just the way that what I learn allows me to do my job and live life better.@@TiagoForte
I would like to know how to organize and format pages in Notion, because currently the information is collected but not structured, and that bothers me a lot because as you/he says, the information is lost. Are there any prompts or ideas for this?
I was really thinking about his name Tiago ( same than me), and lastname sounds Brazilian (like me). Apparently it is exactly the type of content than long time I've looking for.
I’m using Notion for a lot of things but note taking is a real pain, the app is so slow to load and so buggy on mobile. I would bet all the screen records on this advertising are not real time use of the app.
Don't agree on using AI for summary, because making summary yourself reinforce the learning and deepen the understanding which reading summary written by AI won't. This is even told by you when you tell progressive summary technique. Lots of respect to you for good content you always provide, but this one is definitely wrong in my opinion, probably the impact of sponsored content.
I try and write movie reviews. But writing the script is always the hardest part. Can ocean AI help me with this? When it comes to organizing my notes and what-have-you
@@TiagoForte oh no of course. That's my problem though I have all these ideas that I think I'll blow I'm at work, while I'm in bed, out for a walk. I put them all my notes but they're all just jumbled up and disorganized it's so hard to organize them
I had my own home brew system to do this exact process. Except it was a jacked up mess of .pdfs, python scripts, pain text, git, logseq, and gpt4. Granted, it cut my research time in half. But this......its like seeing an F22 zip by while I'm trying my best with an old crop duster an a wingsuit.
Sorry but if you forgot what the book you read is about,in a couple of weeks then you really didn't read that book. And you are writing an article about it?
this is pointless. Instead of writing notes that you will never be able to remember, why don't you just write a summary in your own words of every chapter you've read. You don't need notion or AI. That technology is just taking your money without adding any value.
