Hey I need some help on how to work obs so when i connect everything and use my camera it will show the obs logo with a camera x on top of it and wont show anything I want to show
In all my google meet lessons, I never use "present". All the image work is handled by OBS (I use display capture, not window capture) and this then feeds to google meet. I would suggest getting used to doing all you image/presentation work on OBS and managing that as a video production app, and not using "present" at all.
In OBS, in the sources box (box at the bottom of OBS to the centre-left), you can add sources. Add the display capture or window capture source and then you'll be able to share what you see on a monitor or a specific window. If your problem relates to google meet not finding OBS virtual cam, make sure you've installed the virtual camera properly (you'll see it in the tools menu), and that you've turned on the virtual cam. The plugin for Mac is now available - github.com/johnboiles/obs-mac-virtualcam/releases ; alternatively using terminal in Mac, we can install the virtual camera in Apple. Do we also need to configure audio in OBS to use in Zoom / Google Meet ?

You'll only be able to use the epic pen on OBS & Google Meet using 'display capture' on OBS, not "windows capture". So, you've got to choose a monitor as a source, use display capture to show this on OBS, and then you'll be able to show it on google meet. Doing this on one screen will be very difficult. Let me know if I made / didn't make sense :)

Another question, I have an Nvidia Quadro P2000 motherboard with windows 10x64 20H1. But the Obs does not recognize the NVENC H.264 encoder. HI Simon, your youtube video is spot on. Sadly I have an iMac desktop and I am wanting to use OBS in Google Meet meeting. I am using OBS so I can have both a webcam for doing drawing and painting demos and my desktop camera for students to see me. Sadly I can't access virtual camera in OBS per your instructions. However, I can use OBS in RU-vid. Has anything changed with OBS and iMac regarding Google Meet? Can you direct me to your youtube tutorial re OBS and iMac? Thank you so much!
Hi Meg, I've only time for a quick reply as not much time today, but someone left a comment about a new release of OBS with the virtual cam built in: github.com/obsproject/obs-studio/releases/tag/26.0.0-rc3 If you can, try this it *might* resolve the problem. Other than that, if you can dig out my videos I've done on the mac, there were some comments from mac users that suggest solutions
Thank you very much for your video. How to play from obs output in google meet? I am using a diplay capture device, where I have one of my monitors. However, when I play sound from a video, I can see the picture in google meet, but no sound is passing through? I tried with different sound sources. I even tried VB audio cable, but with no success. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks! :)
Hi, google meet can't (at the moment) share computer sound as freely as you can on zoom or skype. I go into more detail here about how you do share sound on google meet here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JLrJ2e7q9d8.html So, if you can show the video in a google chrome tab (if the video is a file e.g. mp4, open a chrome tab and drag and drop the file into the tab - chrome should start playing it), then follow my instructions in the other video and you'll be able to share sound :)

Hey Simon, I'm fairly new to OBS virtual cam over Google Meet but I don't get how to actually use presenter mode and still display my OBS Virtual Cam because it requires a choice of browser tabs or entire screen. Any advice?
Hi there, OK presenter mode is new to me, but now I've found out what it is and had a little play with it, I *think* I know what's going on. Google meet wants you to choose a window to share, and that then removes the possibility of showing yourself. The easiest way of working around this is not using presenter mode on google meet, but on OBS, use window capture (to see one particular screen (but you won't see navigation menus - that may/may not be a problem) or display capture, but that will ideally require two monitors. The key is to use OBS functionality to achieve your goal and not google meet. Everything I do on OBS is based on display capture (my main monitor) and dragging everything in from a different monitor or resizing the size of the monitor on OBS. I talk about this/ show this on a number of my videos. Let me know if you manage to work it out :)
hi, My virtual Cam is installed but isn't working on google meet. I followed the same procedure as in the video. But still, it is showing " Camera failed" on meet.
When you're using google meet are you trying to connect to the webcam or OBS? If you try to connect to OBS (via the virtual cam), you shouldn't have a problem. If you try to connect to the webcam once it's working on OBS, then you'll get the "camera failed" message.
Not an expert, but I would image that's an internet/computer resource issue. You're asking one page - youtube (using internet bandwidth), to use transmit through a different page - google meet (also using fairly significant internet bandwidth). The obvious option would be to close all other tabs, shut down anything else using bandwidth, play the youtube video at the lowest resolution possible, and make sure you've got plenty of PC RAM available to help you out. Using a PC based app (zoom or skype) would free up resources and provide better results I think.
All video conferencing apps now allow you to share the computer's sound. If you go to google and type in "share computer audio + google meet / zoom / skype" you find out how to do it. It's really simple now :)
No, I record sound separately to the video and mix it in during video production. I use a samson meteor mic that I use, but I also do a lot of clean up work on audacity - noise reduction, normalization etc.
Yes you can - most of the work is done on OBS i.e. showing yourself, the green screen and using powerpoint. Google met just shows what you are doing on OBS.

Help please! I installed OBS and the virtual camera. The virtual camera does show up in the tools. I have made sure both plugin and obs are in the same folder. However, when I start the google meet and try to choose the OBS camera, it is not an option, just my integrated laptop camera is the only choice. Any idea of how to resolve this?
This seems to be a common issue (obsproject.com/forum/threads/obs-wont-work-with-google-meet-via-chrome.123878/), but it's not something I've encountered. In fact, I was using OBS and google meet today without any problems (not much help to you I know - apologies) Also, have a read here - it seems that there might be an issue with chrome: github.com/johnboiles/obs-mac-virtualcam/issues/52
@@Writtenlegalenglish Thanks for the reply back. I tried to start OBS with chrome closed down first but no luck. I am hoping it is because my computer is older since I have a brand new one on the way.
If you're using a Mac, OBS won't work - you'll have to look for a work around on the internet. Your camera won't have 'OBS settings'. OBS is a standalone program. If you can't see 'VirtualCam' in the tools menu, you haven't installed the plugin correctly.
You'll be able flip the image on OBS, see this thread to find out how: obsproject.com/forum/threads/flipping-camera-horizontally.42834/ To flip the image on google meet, you might find something here: support.google.com/meet/thread/33711749?hl=en In short, if the student sees everything the correct way, most teachers simply live with it (I do) :)

@@sirmarkkevin954 In my experience Skype has always been the least problematic, & Zoom may have some image issues (as reported by other users). Essentially, you can use OBS with any video conferencing app (except FB messenger - that's always been more problems then its worth)
2 things: 1) if you're using an apple mac, the virtual camera won't work on apple - I've done other videos on this. 2) If you're using windows, just try to make sure you install it properly. @@hellrider6870 OK, assuming you've actually turned the virtual camera on and google meet isn't seeing it, this seems to be a fairly common problem. You might try using google meet on microsoft edge or another browser. Otherwise, I've not had this problem before, so I'm not sure I'll be able to help, sorry.
