I'm interested in your "thousands times better than the DIY..."? I'm just getting into shrink fit and needed a machine to get me going. I bought one of those induction heater machines sold to garages to loosen rusty bolts. I chuck the tool holder into a tightening fixture and it needs about 30sec to heat (it's only 1.5kw). It works really nicely! What am i missing from a proper machine??! Obviously there is no cooling on the DIY! I give it a quick blast with the air line and then leave a fan on it for a few minutes. If i had to do 3 tools at a time i would hate this thing. However for 1-2 tools at a time I'm curious to know what I'm missing? It seems to me that shrink fit is a really cost effective possibility for the smaller shop, caveat the cost of the shrink machine. I'm really pleased i picked up some holders! Cut quality is a noticeable step up! I'm also fairly happy with the cr@ppy shrink machine, but curious what I'm missing? (Let's assume we are talking about the situation doing a max of 1-2 tools at a time.. There is no question that this thing doesn't scale past that)
Jason.., Cool bit of kit ( excuse inverse pun). 👍 Do you see much difference in tool performance when using the heat-shrink toolholders ) vs., say Weldon or ER collets? Robert
surprisingly we do especially in the okuma and the X7.....the reduced run out makes the tools last a fair but longer when cutting steel...we cut mostly P20
