@@paulgraham7443 I always find it interesting that people such as yourself who don't work in and probably never will work in the videogames industry think they know more about videogames development than those who work in the industry. I always get amazed at the amount of people that complain about developers fixing things later. At least they can do that now. Do you remember the days where games consoles couldn't be connected to the internet? If released on a cartridge or a disc and it had bugs there wasn't necessarily an easy fix. Where as now developers can at least release patches that can be downloaded which can resolve the issue. There is far bigger things in life to worry about than a patch to fix a bug or something which is broken on a game.
The PS3 is one of my all-time favorite systems. It's the system that had everything I wanted. HD Blu-Ray Player Free Online Backwards Compatibility Upgradable Storage including SSD & of course, a whole bunch of amazing exclusives.
I still use the Wii in 2022 because homebrewing the thing is absolutely insane (Using RiiConnect24, WiiConnect24’s revival, Wiimmfi, Nintendo WFC revival) there is a lot of reasons to use the wii after homebrewing it.
Proud to have experienced 7th gen gaming. Still have a lot of PS3 backlogs but that's alright. X360 and PS3 were both amazing systems. I currently use my PS3 to store my PS2 library (so much love for that console) and use my 360 for better versions of third-party games. And my wife loves the kinect, it's the only way we can get in a good and fun workout lol. Thanks for the video guys!
Hi Joshua, glad to hear about your love for PS consoles. If you have a Switch, try playing Overcooked! with her, it’s a great & fun co-op game with lots of content. Switch Sports and Mario Party are good choices for non-gamers as well. For the PS5, check out It Takes Two and A Way Out, both are from the same developer and focus mainly on co-op. My wife and I loved the latter, she finds It Takes Two too challenging for her novice skills. And if you guys like story-driven thrillers that are easy to play, definitely try Heavy Rain. You mentioned you like all Xbox but 360. I’m the opposite, I only like the 360 lol. If you can find a cheap 360, do try playing Kinect with your wife. She might love Dance Central, Kinect Sports, or even Zumba!
I remember watching Wrestlemania live on my Xbox 360 in 2016 and being amazed that hardware that old could still do that. It's still crazy how capable it is today.
I keep and play regularly my wii, ps3 and the 360, my favourite generation of consoles. They're still very fun to play, there are a lot of great games on these platforms
I have a Wii and a Xbox 360, literally some of the best consoles of the 2000’s, not counting the 360’s red ringing issue. If you have a Wii, softmodding it with letterbomb or home brew can make online functionality work again.
It’s so weird to me how people like “look back” on these consoles. I never stopped using my old consoles, just less frequently. I still play my 360 and ps3 at least once a week.
the nostalgia in this video is overwhelming! i still have a working ps3 so it's nice to go back and play some childhood favorites every now and again 😊
I have a PS5, but I just bought a PS3 because I missed out during the early 2000s. Shockingly, there's STILL some amazing games you can play, even in 2022. So many exclusives on there that sony refuses to bring to the ps4 and 5. I'd definitely recommend getting one, if you find it in good condition
Those 7th gen consoles were one of the BEST generations ever. Awesome features like gyro sensors and motion sensor stuffs were actually very exciting to use back then. except that RRoD on those original 360s though.
My SO's original 360 GPU gave up in an online multiplayer game of Halo 3. That was an ouch. Was fun watching the textures go from normal to corrupted, tho.
@@GenerationZ313 YLOD sucked too, but I currently own a phat one (CECHE model), and never experienced such a thing. but I can say how BAD those CELL chips are in no doubt XD
One reason the 360 store works so well is because of backwards compatibility. A few games (probably for legal reasons) have to be bought through the old xbox marketplace in a web browser or on a 360 even if they're enhanced and you just want to play them on a Series S/X. So not only does backwards compatibility let you play old games on Series S/X, but it's also probably a huge reason why old 360s are still so functional today.
Unfortunately my PS3 overheated after 10 years of use. These old consoles need maintenance if you want them to last. SSD upgrades are always a bonus too.
The PS3 was the greatest console of late 00s and early 10s era! When the PS3 was the first system where controllers were motion sensing, required no external battery and the console had built in wifi as well as free online play with PSN! The wave background and the built in apps were unique and fun especially PlayStation Home! The console was a powerhouse and people use to complain that the console was too large lol now the original PS3 model looks like a Wii compared to the current PS5 model! I do miss the first 360 dashboard it was very clean and had colorful and fresh aesthetic. The 360 has some sick white and green promotional artwork. The Wii was also fresh and nostalgic and cute in its own way!
I was really disappointed with how huge the PS5 is. Wouldn't mind it if most of that space was to allow for memory expansion. The PS3 and PS4 size wise was perfect for what a gaming console should be.
I still have my PS3 Super Slim, and I am never going to get rid of it. Sometimes I take a break from PC gaming, and launch up BO2 and play zombies and chill, best generation of gaming ever.
I collect consoles myself, to play games on whenever I feel like it from my past, as well as inviting other people to join for fun times. I have over 20 consoles atm haha To me, yes, the PS3/XBOX360/Wii are still amazing to play in this day and age, ESPECIALLY considering how many new games are currently gimped by microtransactions and other monetary shizzle.
I'm pretty similar to you my guy! I have around 20ish consoles all hooked and ready to play and my friends love to come over for "game night". All my Xbox consoles are hooked into an Ethernet switch for System Link and I've got three displays (two flatscreens and one CRT) for when the crowd gets big. It's a ton of fun, but even I have to admit that it takes a lot of effort, care and money to upgrade and upkeep this monstrous setup. Tolerable to me since it's my hobby but others would think I'm crazy or wasting money. To me, you just can't put a solid price on fun especially if it's something you can share with other people in your life.
PS3 was gold, Burning CDs to play better music in Gran Turismo 5 and 6 made Deployments so much better or just not having to connect to the internet to play great games. I still have a 2tb Firecuda in mine with Dreamcast and PS1,2,and 3 games. Pretty solid machine and some old pictures and videos from my first digital cameras from 2000-2009.
I bought a Xbox 360 elite at Goodwill for $20 and it works! After recovering my 360 digital games I forgot I purchased X-men and Simpsons arcade and MK collection years ago. I was still able to download them again! I feel like a kid again!
I was rocking these systems till a few months ago. Before March of this year the last 2 systems I bought was a Wii and a Switch. I bought both a few months after they were released.
One of my favorite things about the 360 was the avatar games. Idk if it was just me but I loved playing those games when I was younger. The 2 I played the most were Kinect adventures and avatar warfare
You could install Linux on a PS3 and use it for emulation. Sony officially supported installation of linux as they wanted it to also function as a home computer.
Man I remember when my grandpa first bought the original white Xbox 360 around the time it launched. He didn't tell me at all (my original Xbox had been broken for a while) and when I eventually found it he was like hey congrats you found it, I bought it for you lol. I remember eventually I got the black Xbox Slim with wifi built in and that's when I first really started getting into online gaming with my buddies. Halo 3 and CoD Zombies all night during the summers and then we dove into some of the arcade games like Doritos Crash Course and Miner Z, ah man, good times.
This video is made for me. I bought these three consoles this year. As I was a bit broke and games from this era are like 2 bucks. I know a bit about what works and doesn’t work. So for PS3 most apps are fine, when loading up RU-vid or Netflix it may crash but you just have to delete and reinstall the apps and it should be fine. Crunchyroll has issues in playback with shows stuttering randomly. They recently made it so you need a specific log in password that is generated for you to go onto PSN, and it’s best to check the box that remembers it and auto-sign in so you don’t have to keep generating new ones. The Xbox 360 has a fair number of issues in its media apps. RU-vid app will say it is not working anytime you have your XBL logged in. You have to sign out, open RU-vid and it’ll tell you to choose account and it will work. Netflix I find the audio doesn’t work unless I put the resolution to 480p in the settings. Crunchyroll is a mess, episodes will either not load up, or will say the server cannot be reached in longer series like One Piece, and you just have to keep hitting retry until it works. On Wii the internet enabled apps don’t work anymore, as shown in the video.
I still have my Wii and OG Xbox 360 from 2006. Both still work. My 360 never got RROD for some reason. I have cleaned it and replaced the thermal paste twice over the years to keep it running like it should. I have put more hours into that console than any other hands down, including PC. I was 12 in 2006 when I got it for my birthday. It's my baby lol. Am currently playing through Farcry 3 for the first time on it.
Tenchu Z, Blue Dragon, Naruto Rise of a Ninja, Naruto Broken Bonds(the sequel), Lost Odyssey. These are a handful of exclusives you need on the 360 if nothing else.
Just bought a Series S after basically a decade of beyond behind and watching other people gaming (I difetti have the time or the money to game and I missed a while generation but the Series S and Gamepass where compelling and cheap enough to bring me back) but I played my 360 from time to time and tried watching netflix and youtube on it and it's still great, especially for retrogaming
I owned all 3 consoles during this generation but got the 360 at the start and PS3 towards the end. Still remember getting the xbox 360 for Christmas with games and being so hyped.
I still use the PS3 in 2022 and it's still so good. Like, Most of the OG games, like Cod mw2 and mw3, last of us, uncharted are all available in this console. It's a really good console for those who would like to buy a cheap console with a bunch of games
Came back to my abandoned ps3 recently after finding out homebrewing was a thing, got budokai tenkaichi 3 and mario 64, now I play nearly everyday on it
I still regularly use my PS3 and 360, despite having a decent current PC and an Xbox Series X. The Wii is becoming more and more redundant with the Switch, specially with the NSO covering most my previous virtual console purchases. And the SD graphics and analog video are harder to get back to
Ps3 got a lot of flak in the console wars but it stands the tests of time graphic wise and with the massive game library with the region free version and the sheer ease of customizablity if you know what you are doing.
uff that generation of consoles was awesome, i believe the 3 systems worth today but modified unless you are a collector, but if not, with chips and stuff you can get a whole catalog that isn't currently available, games like the spider man, the original nier, splatterhouse, deadpool, fatal frame 2 remake , the calling and many others worth, even more thinking that the 3 systems are cheap today specially the wii.
you can easily install a ssd into the ps3 it's worth it, looks like you have the backwards compatible ps3 (shiny trim) be careful because if you so much as look at it wrong it'll ylod
when austin went to match his mii and went right next to it i died... in laughter also when austins 360 was super loud so is mine whenever i turn on my 360 it sounds the same
