the fact that some of them were letting the zombies get close while reloading, was actually mostly what they actually did😭 edit: there’s a split community in the replies
First of all firing by ranks only works when you like 20 people to work since players in this game have a brain cell of a seagull they don't know how to build a perfect defense against bombers
@@natospysanchez8938 Skirmish Formations consist of gaps. Which is only used against ranged combatants minimizing casualties by spreading everyone out. So if your saying this.

The video is great a few suggestions if you're planning to a video liek this again tho. 1. Use cycle firing or platoon firing you'd need a fair amount of people to do this, divide the group into platoons and order each platoon to fire at turns, make sure each platoon fires between intervals so the when the last platoon fires the first platoon would have already loaded their guns and allow for a constant rate of fire. 2. make use of pikemen/seargants, line formations had seargants/NCOs who used halberds/pikes to signify their rank, they could be used to protect the line from zombies. 3. if youre doing ranks, make sure there is gaps between the shoulders so the rank behind can actually see infront.
In the lore the armies practiced shooting, withdrawing a bit to reload, all while staying formation. This was done to combat the hordes on a larger scale and help mitigate their number advantages. If you check the notes and articles it shows the armies were caught off guard and on the backfoot. However as the numbers of the dead began to swell and more were lost the armies broke into smaller groups. So it is likely that fighting as a group without a particular formation became the norm. As the officers fell and the others were left to their own devices. Normally the levels we fight on are set after the local army has been all but annihilated. With endless being the designated holdouts to buy time for others to retreat. So it is logical to assume that the soldiers would largely drop the large formation tactics. Instead opting for a more indiviualized approach to situations. As they are the survivors who SAW these tactics not work.
The Accuracy of the game is decent. Since your fighting in close quarters and tight spaces. Line Infanry is permitted to skirmish tactics. Meaning Fire, Advance, and Hold. Sabers can be used as of that moment. Bayonets are only effective because its easier to equip.
I have an idea, Have 8 line infantry of 2 different nations, 4 per nation, 2 officers, same nation rule, 2 sappers, same nation rule, 2 fifers, nation rule, 2 seamen, nation rule and split them into two groups, A team of each, and you and one of your friends be the officer, commanding your side and hed command his, and play through any map. I remember that after watching this video, i wanted to do this with my friends on private server, i becomed officer, but my friend become officer and said "he impostor" , i leaved, after 5 minutes i joined him and screamed on him "IM NOT IMPOSTOR"
Even if this was accurate, it wouldn't work against zombies because this was used against humans, who were following rules and trying to stay alive, zombies are rogue and wouldn't care Love the vid though
I think y'all would do better if you had more people. Like a priest, a few seamen, surgeons, and musicians too. Than just line infantry, you have access to all those classes use them to their fullest abilities.
G&B wasn't that all realistic but some and even fewer details can tone your experience, also military tactics nor formations were pointless in the G&B universe since everyone is fighting for their survival in an explicable way as possible.
We would do line battles though in most parts like the one you get the explosive barrels and hay stacks but would ditch the tactic to effectively finish the map its fun to do it and its pretty useful on concentrated funnels like Tyrol or La Fern
Coordinating a small group of minimally experienced people is already difficult, imagine a group of 20 people with mixed skills and no central coordination trying to collaborate with each other, not to mention the poor communication.
This is so unrealistic napoleon and other officers would drive a Dodge Challenger into battle while using the double pump tactic (commonly also used by king karl the 12th of sweden when fighting against russia due to the high damage). Smh my head get your facts straight.
What is the problem?? Soldiers form a line, france vs prussia they are in a line, prussia vs zombies, soldiers uses a line zombies divide and move a lot and they arent in line they uses instinct
I think each rank is supposed to fire separately for example: rank one will fire then after they fire rank two will reload then after rank one will fire once more kinda like a continuous barrage of balls
