Thanks for sharing your stencilling techniques! I find plastic stencils can work well, but the key is to remove them when partially hardened. I put them in a ziploc baggie in the freezer and then crack/shake off the wax afterwards :)
Thank you for the clear and detailed instruction and commentary. Beautiful encaustic collage! I have found that machine made "lace" and brocade can work really well with painting on encaustic, onto a warm surface, allowing it to cool for a few minutes, then peeling it off. I look forward to more posts by you
When my stencil is down, and wax has cooled a bit, I use a big loop tool to scrape the stencil off. That removes residue on the stencil and it releases from the board better. Seems to work for me and to clean my stencils I use my big loop tool. Love your design and lace of video. Thanks for not using annoying crazy music
I have some success scraping, but most of my stencils have really delicate, tiny areas that are easily damaged, so getting the wax off those areas is pretty tricky.
What a gorgeous piece! I loved that the stencil on top wasn't perfect....kinda that perfect imperfection thing. I love the simplicity of your colors. Just wow! x
Hi Anjuli, I am so happy to have found your videos. I am very new to encaustic and love this medium. Do you have all your stencils made? I like the map idea and would like to order some. I am looking forward to watching more. Many thanks, Jenny
Hi Jenny! I buy all my stencils, unless its just a simple shape I can cut out of paper. These are stencils from "The Crafters Workshop". Its tough to make plastic stencils work with wax, but it can work out. I'd like to start making my own paper or fabric stencils... pondering how to get that going. Thanks so much for watching!!
