I hadn’t seen this foot in action before and it looks awesome! But it looked familiar so I looked in my stash of sewing feet, and I had that one already but had no idea what it was for! I’m so glad I watched your video and I’m looking forward to trying it out.😆
Love this foot but works better if you have the binding wrapping from bottom to the top so you can control it's placement. Just finished binding 3 flannel baby blankets wit it, only way to do it !!!❤❤❤❤
There are lots of options. I prefer my binding to look crisp on the front, and not stitched through. But other people have different preferences, so absolutely do what you love and what works for you! 🥰
I agree - I have always dine hand sewing for the binding because I dint want to see machine stitching on the front. I never thought about using this foot - thanks so much for this! (I might practice first in something small🫢🫢😄😄)
Do you need to press the edge over 1/4" before rolling to the back? Or does the foot automatically curl the edge under. I've never seen a foot this cool.
Sure. But some folks have hand problems (arthritis, tendinitis, carpal tunnel, etc), or don't have the time to commit to hand binding. I love a hand bound quilt, for sure! But machine binding is an alternative, and for those that choose to machine bind, I'm happy to provide support for getting the most beautiful machine binding.
I do love that there are so many ways to stitch bindings! I sometimes bring it to the front and then attach it with my sashiko machine to add some flair. 🥰
I have a babylock machine and love it but I do wish that they would have special lessons and on occasion or maybe just the basics after we get a little older we forget
Not all feet are compatible, even within brands. I'm not an expert on how feet fit across machines - check with your local quilt shop on what will work for your machine. Some machines have a low shank and some have a high shank. So, you'd need the correct shank for your machine, and you'd need a shank that allows the foot to clip on and off. Hope that helps! 🥰
I usually cut my binding to 2". Standard (if there is such a thing) is probably 2 1/2", but I think the 2" binding is easier to apply, using just a 1/4" seam allowance.
@@margienell4401 my pleasure! I find 2 1/2 sticks over too far on the back for my liking. Some people go with 2 1/4 - gives them a little more wiggle room than 2", but not as much overhang as 2 1/2".
