Using the Halftone Effect in Adobe Illustrator

This was a great tut. Great effect, easy to follow.

Was your image black and white to start with? If the halftone is applied to a coloured image, you get the coloured dots. Try making the image greyscale first then apply the halftone effect. Hope that helps.

very nice but i tried on a color pic and it change it also. but in the end thank u very much for the trick.

When applying the image trace, the interface is different on illustrator CC, as it does not have the option for 'minimum area,' to the right of threshold. Upon first click of the image trace on default setting, it is shockingly nowhere near your results. Do you know how to compensate for the new image trace panel on CC?

Could you also use a halftone effect (or any other effect from the effects gallery) that dies out over a radial gradient? For example, that in centre of the rose there is no effect and that the effect gradually increase outwards. Is that possible?

There's no way to turn a colored image to black and white and adjust it in illustrator 6 ?

Thanks greatly for this tut!!! Question: is this the procedure to prepare it for tshirt printing as well. I would assume to invert the black and white if im doing this on a black shirt? What other steps would i need to do to prep to use my image for printi g to a shirt thanks in advance. I also would like to incorporate text along with this and have the text the same color so in regards to prepping for printing screens any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!.
