To my ears, the plugin did very well with the kick, snare, & guitars compared to the hardware. On the overheads in the room tracks it lost some of the highs and on the bass it was a bit boxy. Overall, I think it did pretty well.
I thought the plugin did sound kinda thin compared to the hardware. Oh well. As far as I know there is latency with the UAD cards. How much I am not sure.
The 'good' qualities of analogue are subjective. Many young producers prefer the sound of digital because all the music they like sounds that way. Don't sweat it. You can still make a crap record with all the best analogue hardware in the world.
Sounds good on the bass line part... not impressed on the drums, at least not for the music i make, sounds mid and boxy...but on bass.... sounded well sweet!!! Zz.
Always interesting to see people judging audio quality through youtube videos. And for those who cry "analogue!! analogue!!" I suppose the vast majority of people using UA and WAVES plugins to mix grammy winning records today don't know what they are doing? And how many of you actually own or have really worked with any of the high end hardware studio devices? Or have you even TRIED the UA stuff? Just honestly curious. I doubt it though.
