Today is all about turning garden goodies into yummy dishes. First we're using cherry tomatoes, peppers and onions to make a delicious roasted cherry tomato sauce. We're also making cucumber and watermelon salad with cilantro, lime, and feta cheese. And we get a batch of Greek yogurt started. I'll use this in a later video to use up some of my cucumbers, by making tzatziki sauce. We also get a peak at a jar of salsa that's just finished fermenting and is ready to go in the fridge.

Cucumber + watermelon, never ate that combo before, looks so refreshing. I was given an abundance of various tomatoes and cucumbers, so I'm dehydrating now. I'm going to try your cherry tomato sauce when it's not so hot here, looks delicious. I love my instant pot for making yogurt. My hubby is lactose intolerant so I make plant based yogurt/sour cream/ cheese from plant milks, our favorite plant milk is cashew. I'll be back to see how your yogurt came out. Thank you for your recipes. You are delightful in your presentation and information. I really enjoy your channel. I wish you success on YT, I'm seeing many more subs for you! 😊

You should definitely give watermelon and cucumber together a try, it's so good! I hope you enjoy the cherry tomato sauce when you get around to it. The yogurt is an experiment for me. I've been tolerating lactose free sour cream, so we'll see how the yogurt goes. I may need to ask you for your cashew milk yogurt recipe if I don't tolerate this recipe well. I make Greek yogurt from raw fresh milk. I heat to 180, cool to 115, then add my live culture yougurt starter. I use the yogurt setting on the instant pot for 12 hours. Turns out thick and wonderful after I drain off the whey.

@@crishertel It sounds like you and I make yogurt the same way. When I mentioned runny raw milk yogurt, I was referring to the method that only heats it to 115 and skips the 180 step. I know some people are uncomfortable heating to 180 since milk is pasteurized at around 161.

new to your channel ! love the idea of the roasted tomato sauce ~ mine are starting to come in fast and furious now ! what oven temp ? also , what freeze dryer would you suggest for a beginner ?

Welcome! I roast the sauce at 400 degrees. I've had my freeze dryer for a few years and at the time I got it, the only brand available was Harvest Right. I have a medium and love it. It was a big investment, but has been such a great addition to the ways I can preserve food!
