Kind reminder: iPhone "TEN", not iPhone "EX". Please, it's been 6 years people, we can do this lol Shoutout to the channel members for making this video possible!
In the past they discontinued iphones because the actual hardware wasnt able to run the software. iPhones are discontinued now because apple just wants you to get a new one when the iPhone X is clearly capable of running iOS 17
The X is the ideal perfect apple iphone, even to this day, there is nothing like that I'm really sad my iphone X got busted & no longer works (it fell many times, and the screen got cracked to death) last seen Jan 2023, RIP my beloved X :(
Not sure how that's criminal when the Xr is the same as the Xs which both are technically superior than the X. But I agree the iPhone X still holds up. I mean look at the front of an iPhone X and the front of a standard iPhone 14 and tell me how much difference is there in the past 5 years.
Apple will go back to curved edges, mark my words. Just for the sake of changing. Just as they will change to flat after that. They must have something to change right ?
Yeah I still have my X from 2018 and it works perfectly fine. No reason to upgrade something that works just fine. Feels like yesterday bc 2020-2023 has been the same year
Only reason I haven’t let go of it yet. It’s the best smartphone to date. The thin and light design of it. The glass. The curved edges. The OLED screen. It’s so good.
I used my iPhone X up until May of 2023. Amazing phone, but the age really started to show in the last few months, with frequent lags and crashes. The battery was okay, needed to recharge once throughout the day. Switched to a Google Pixel 6a and sometimes miss my iPhone X.
It’s a real shame the iPhone X didn’t make 10 years of software support, when you consider the 6s made it to 7 years it seems possible given how powerful the iPhone X was at the time
I'm still on an iPhone 8 in 2023 and it still feels as snappy as ever, I was really disappointed when I found out IOS 17 wasn't going to be supported. The battery life is pretty great with a 100 cycle %100 health battery, except when it comes to Spotify, which is my biggest drainer, even more than RU-vid, so I'm thinking of switching over to apple music to see if its optimized better, with moderate social media use, I can get a day out of it, and for the prices used iPhones are on FB marketplace in Canada, I don't feel the need to upgrade, but when I finally do, I'm definitely picking up an iPhone 13 mini.
I use Apple Music on an 8 with 92% health and can confirm Apple Music doesn’t drain battery a lot. Was on an 8 hour flight, plugged my tunes in shortly after takeoff at around 83% battery left, fell asleep woke up an hour before landing with 81% left and music still playing.
I just upgraded from a XS to a 13 mini. I did not at all feel like it was necessary to make the upgrade but I figured that it's probably getting near the end of being able to buy a 13 mini brand new. The XS held up so well that I'm keeping it around as an extra WiFi device for the house. After experiencing how great the 13 mini is to hold and use, they'll have to pry this one out of my cold-dead hands before I'd upgrade.
Pixel 4xl is just as old and still kicking ass and taking names, iphone x owners crying, their phones not invincibile! So I bought the iphone XS as prices bow to me on ebay as iphone cowards sell their high prices paper weight! 🙅🫨🎃👻🎃😌🤭
this phone rlly was revolutionary, and i remember being absolutely taken aback when it was announced. crazy to think that it’s now about to be unsupported
It’s still nice to see that Apple has held up its software support for older devices. 6 years is a pretty good run for a smartphone and it can still be used securely for another year or so.
I bought my 10 in white with 256gb in march 2018 , it felt so good buying it and first unboxing it and using it felt revolutionary because of the new design, I gave it to my mom in 2020 and she dailies it to this day its amazing and I had to have it because of the ten year anniversary of the first iPhone. 🥰
i remember the day it released and how much i begged to get it i eventually after selling my beloved 6S i finally got it in 2020. that phone got me through some of the hardest times of my life sad to see it losing support. i will forever miss it
I'm still using the iPhone 7 to this day, already went through one iPhone 7, and I'm on my second iPhone 7. Old iPhone 7 was on the verge of getting on life support, and was broken so I just got a refurbished iPhone 7. It's jailbroken on iOS 15, looking like iOS 16. Performance isn't good, apps can't stay open for long when the phone is locked, and do crash due to lack of ram, but the battery life is decent, still couldn't last me a full day on a trip to New York, it died while I was in Central Park, and I pulled out my iPad, just so I could still take pictures, and enjoy some music. I am looking to upgrade though, was thinking about a used iPhone SE 2.
I went from day 1 iPhone X directly to day 1 iPhone 15. It had 73% of the original battery. It got really bad at the end but I’m happy I was able to have one phone for 6 years. The iPhone 15 is every upgrade I wanted over the X. I wonder how long I can do with this one.
The fact that Apple won’t introduce huge changes between years means that even older iPhones still largely function like modern flagship devices particularly when compared to similarly priced Android devices. For people living in regions where upgrading devices isn’t that easy; this is very helpful. The flagship Androids from 2017 became obsolete several years ago but the X held on till 2023.
in 2023 the Samsung galaxy S8 is in the same position as this phone. Nice design and screen but without getting further updates. There are also a lot of video's that talk about using the S8 in 2023.
@@leonox7313 my brother uses one fine I sold it to him when I upgraded from my s8 to a s22 but I use iPhone mainly and had an xr I sold early 2024 and a 13 I just sold so I'm thinking I get an iPhone x and hold onto it until the iPhone 20 is out I'm not much of a phone user but I like both ecosystems
I broke out my iPhone X just to watch this video. I think this and the XS might be my favorite iPhones of all time. I know it won’t happen, but my dream would be for Apple to revive this exact phone design as a SE model.
I was forced to be on this phone after my current 13 Pro Max broke out of warranty. Used it for almost a month and was blown away how reliable it still is. Quick, super rare stutters, best haptics to date due 3D Touch, camera completely capable with decent lighting and the battery on this unit was 88% and never had an issue. Insane for a 6 years old phone.
Watching this on my this on my iPhone X in August 20 2023 made me love it even more. Aside from the battery health which currently sits at 85% which does make it that I don’t always get through one day without charging, it’s an amazing phone. It’s fast, it’s stable and when not in low-light conditions it makes beautiful photos (especially from up close). I’m definitely considering buying an 11 pro or newer (as long as it’s a pro (I need that zoom lens) and depends on whatever I can afford) but I will keep this phone as well. I might put a new battery inside of it and it’s gonna end up somewhere I can’t find it anymore. The phone just has a very polished and nostalgic feeling to it and I might use is as a reserve phone. Also although it’s battery only last for around 3 and a half hours I think, it charges INSANELY fast.
My respect for you bro. I love to see people stick to their phones for these many years instead of brainless people who’d switch every year. I used to use iphone 8plus until iPhone 14 pro max came out and switched to it. I am so happy about the uproar because i felt like i just took a huge leap into the future by this. Definitely gonna use my 14 pro max until it’s iOS updates gets discontinued
I've had the iphone x since 2018, so going on 6 years now! It's been flawless. I've needed just one battery replacement over those years and I use it constantly for work and life. I plan to keep it as long as possible so long as it gets security updates. A quality phone like this will be really hard to part with.
I feel like the X and Xs is a similar situation to what the 5 5s or 6/6S was were the S one was a huge jump over the non-S model. I have a feeling that the Xs will get at least 2 to 3 more years support over the X
I don’t want to be early. But I think the iPhone XS and XR should get iOS 18 and 19 no problem. And I think apple will end off the XS and 11 series all together. iOS 20 and beyond will be for the 12 series.
I think it could of ran iOS 17 well, I used one until a couple months ago, the reason why I think it didn’t get iOS 17 is because on iOS 16 most of the features weren’t available anyways.
I wasn’t really fond of the new design of the iPhone X at first, but after seeing it more I very much loved seeing it. I’m happy to have gotten a certified refurbished iPhone X from Apple nearly 3 years ago, and I would highly recommend it for a cheaper phone even if it will eventually become unsupported. Also, I do agree that the only issue is the battery life. If it didn’t degrade so fast, I definitely would have waited to upgrade.
Might be controversial but… I prefer the design and feel of the X and XS to anything released the last 3 years. But, 4G is feeling limited by carriers. As if they want to force you into a 5G device. Plus, the fact it ain’t getting iOS 17 just makes it unusable for a certain crowd.
I bought the iPhone XS for my dad for his birthday. I bought it in 2023 because he had a bent iPhone 7+ with a non-working haptic vibration motor. That means that the phone would not vibrate anymore and the home button which still worked, just didn’t have the button click feel to it. I had already convinced my mom to upgrade her phone in 2022 and she ended up getting an iPhone 11 Pro. I ended up buying my dad the iPhone XS because it was a phone that was the same style with apples for screen design and it was affordable for me to buy on my own outright and it had a zoom camera. I know a lot of people prefer the wide angle camera, but for me everything I’ve ever done, led me to prefer the zoom camera and the fact that the base model for newer iPhones don’t have a zoom camera was a dealbreaker. So I gave the phone to my dad and I transferred everything from his iPhone 8 over to his iPhone XS and he’s really happy with the phone and I got a really nice OtterBox case for it and he’s really happy with the phone. He really likes it and the fact that it is the Xs means that it has that design with the OLED screen and the original iPhone X had an LCD screen what was nice but it’s not an OLED screen. So iPhone XS for my dad and iPhone 11 Pro for my mom. They’re both really happy with the phones and also I gave it to my dad for his birthday so he thought that was a great gift.
It’s a really different time to be alive when my iPhone X sits in a drawer unused and one that no one really cares about today. It’s such a nice, and premium little device, that is so capable still.
I'm still using my iPhone X I bought new in March 2018 as my daily driver, and I haven't really felt the need for an upgrade until very recently. My main issues now are battery life, mine still has it's original battery which is now at 77% max capacity, not great but not the worst for a phone I've used for over 5 years straight. I've seen newer devices with worse batteries than this one. I pair mine with an Apple Watch Series 4 and use AirPod Pros with it too, keep the brightness up most of the time and just use it as I would any other phone, the camera gets used a lot during the day as I'm vision impaired and use it to see small text on small or distant objects, and I always use it every weekday morning for my 90 minute commute to work to listen to podcasts and RU-vid videos. It doesn't last a long time with my usage, I usually put it in low power mode at the start of the day at 6AM and by the time I get to work at 8:30 AM I'm down to 75-80% battery, and usually down to 40-50% by lunch at 1PM. Not brilliant but I have a charger built into my desk at work so I can charge it before I go home. I always had really good battery life until I got to about 80% max capacity which is where the big drop off happened. I've been hesitant to upgrade but I'll be doing so with one of the iPhone 15 variants later in the year. I wanted to get a 14 Pro but as soon as it was made clear the next iPhone would have USB-C, I put that on hold and just rode it out with my iPhone X and tbh it's been okay. It's definitely been the best phone I've ever owned, it's lasted the 5 years I wanted it to last for when I bought it and it'll be a sad day when it does eventually get replaced.
I had my 10 since launch and it served me well. Im on team no case and it stood the drops and daily use well. After so many years, the battery got to 60% and my face id stopped working so this February, I made the switch to the 14 pro. I got the 14 pro cause the new space black reminded me of my old slate black iPhone 5. The 10 fit my hand so well with the weight and screen size. I'm still getting used to the top heavy 14 pro 😅
I'm in this position and my phone still runs like new ( only changed the battery once ) I said to myself, since being on the S cycle since the 3GS, to now wait...and it seems to have paid off because while there have been upgrades since, they haven't been so major for me to care ( only cared for the improved night mode ) Now, I'm going to the 15 pro and going to stay on this 5 generation cycle. This way, It's always a good and worth it upgrade and not an incremental one. Phones are at it's peak, not just iPhone. How much more can you do to it that would honestly matter anymore.
X still surprisingly runs nice in 2023 and being last phone without battery serialisation battery replacement on it is a piece of cake I got mine replaced for a higher capacity battery and it holds wonders
Definitely one of the best iPhone Apple has created.. already upgraded from iPhone X to iPhone 14 last year and now my dad is using it.. welp, eventually made a deal with my sister to have her broken iPhone X repaired and in exchange I’ll be using it so yeah so far it still performs well as my backup phone that’s why I was surprised that it will not get the iOS 17 update.. I was expecting it to have one more update before Apple drops its support..
Im still use old design in 2023 (se 2nd gen).. all good but sadly screen resolution 750p not relevant in 2023.. it make social media story photo blurry when your viewer 1080p device see your story..
Been using my iPhone X for nearly 5 years now and still on the original battery. No other iPhone has lasted me this long, the performance is still quick as well.
I still have a 3-4 year old iPhone X that I still use, all my games work perfect at 60fps although on really heavy games it may get hot and then lose fps, my battery capacity is at 79% I can still use it for a whole day, it’s going to be very emotional to update from this
6 years?? wow this hit me hard hahah. Can't believe it will no longer the next update. This iphone still feels so 'new', probably because the new iphone design doesn't look too far off from this. I'm still using this and yes, the age is starts showing. I've replaced the battery but sometimes the phone still lags. It only happen occasionally though, it still holds up pretty well for daily usage
Watching this video from the X. Still working fine if you only use it for scrolling social media or watching YT. It gets hot easily if you playing heavy games or apps. But still love it even 5-6 years has passed 🥰 The camera still great and it’s perfect to be my 2nd device ❤
Been rocking an iPhone XS for over 3.5 years and only now I’m going to upgrade to the 15 Pro. No other phone’s lasted me this long and it convinced me to stick to Apple in the future
i actually got my iphone x for free about a year ago from one of my co-workers since i was still using an iphone 7 and i only use it for work and it's been great still, slapped on a screen protector and a case and it's basically brand new again. Battery life is great, probably charge it once every 3-4 days and for simple calling, mail, messaging, and the occasional facetime. I have no real reason to upgrade, until my next free iphone from co-workers lol. Even if I kept using my iphone 7, I don't think I would see any issue for my day to day use, actually miss the built in button and fingerprint sensor, i dont have faceid setup for privacy.
ive just bought the new 15 base model and have to say after 6 years of using the iPhone 10 she's still at 80% batter life and amazing performance. Don't plan on throwing it away rather using it as a backup. love it too much.
I just ordered the 15 pro and refuse to give my X away. The only problem I have had in the last year is the battery life. When I got it, it was the perfect iPhone. I hope the 15 pro will hold up as long as my X did.
The iPhone X (and XS/Max the following year) has one feature that future iPhones (and iOS versions) abolished - 3D Touch. These phones had the sensors built in but the feature was greatly underutilized IMHO, particularly by 3rd party developers. Despite the functionality being reduced to almost nonexistant in iOS 16, it's still used by apps like GarageBand, in which some of the instrument keys are pressure sensitive. Which is sad, because I loved using it, and it's one of two reasons that has kept me from upgrading (the other due to the lack of USB-C).
I really miss 3D Touch. I remember all that way back when the 6S came out I was really blown away by 3D touch. It was a real shocker when I upgraded to a 12 Pro Max and it had haptic touch instead. Sad day when they sunset that feature. Bring it back!
I lost my iPhone X two weeks ago and I’m devastated. I love the size and all the phones after that are either to big or to small. Why do they not just have the same size anymore TT
almost 6 years later and my X is still running but this Friday it'll finally meet its end as my main. About halfway through it's lifetime it got a bad case of spicy pillow and I replaced the battery with an aftermarket one. At the end of the day, I am usually left with 20-30% battery to space but I am also not what one would describe as a power user. In the last year, I have started feeling the lack of performance, most apps still run smoothly but some have smaller lags and recently even crashes directly after startup (oddly enough safari of all is especially affected). It's not that I wouldn't have replaced it earlier but I waited for another big leap like the X was itself but that just hasn't happened so I kept on waiting year on year for the next generation, for the next big leap but alas that never came. I guess the combination of the last 5 years' tiny leaps is finally a gap large enough for me to warrant a jump
It’s not unsupported it’s just not getting any new features. Apple will still support it on iOS 16 just like they do the 6s/7 on iOS 15. All apps still work on a 6s too.
The X is still a real decent phone and has had a good life cycle. Its a shame not seeing this get iOS 17 but time and technology move forward nonetheless. It might have had a chance if it had more RAM as I think that’s the only reason its not getting 17.
The XS has the same 3GB so the RAM can't be the reason. Anyway I guess I'll stay on iOS 16 for a couple more years. Performance and stability are great so no need to upgrade until the iPhone 16 or so.
Ram is not the reason it's not getting 17, it's quite stupid to think like this, the iphone should & can be able to handle it fine If Apple wants to end a certain phone, then they will, it has nothing to do with the specs, as apple do not care about you as a consumer, they simple wants to force you to spend on newer device
the iPhone X is my favorite iPhone of all time. even when the iPhone 20 comes out I will still cherish and appreciate the iPhone X. I currently use the iPhone 13 mini but I still have my iPhone X in its original box with 94% battery health. The iPhone X was revolutionary and I’m keeping mine forever
I just upgraded to a 13 because the battery was awful and it was slow quite frequently. It's a nice breath of fresh air having a phone capable of handling newer software seamlessly.
my iphone 12 broke and i dont have the money to buy a compleatly new iphone and buying the "old" like 12-13 or even 11 was absudly high priced i found iphone x 91% battery and 256 gb for 180 dollars so it was pretty ok price
Last year, I went from the iPhone 7 to the XS, while my kids went from the X to the 13 Pro. I'm really not a fan of the weight of their phone. When Apple stops giving the XS the latest iOS - thankfully NOT this year - I'm seriously considering swapping to a 13 Mini, unless either the next SE uses the discontinued 13 Mini size, or Apple FINALLY gives us an iPad friendly Watch app. Thanks for the video!
@@himikebyeHad to use an iPhone 6 for 6 weeks last year (gave my 7 to Mum). The older models are fine if you don’t need to pair with an Apple Watch. That’s why Apple *should* sort an iPad Watch app - but that would mean they’d lose money, so I’m not holding my breath.
Me watching this review using my Iphone 6. I'm sad that these phones are no longer supported by the updated ios, however, old iphones are still wroking up until now. Sometimes my phone is kinda crashing but it's fine as long as I can still use it purposely. 😊
I would definitely upgrade right now if I had an iPhone X. My parents have iPhone eight models so one of them will get my iPhone 12 in September and the other will either get a 13 or 14. I don’t know if all three of us could afford iPhone 15 models but I’ve been saving my money for about two years.
Same here im about to upgrade from my old iphone 8 to a 12 next month and i dont think the 12 is outdated at all yes in terms of camera compared to the 13 and 14 models.
@@emilsecker7881probably to give his parents new phones since they both have 8s. however if anybody still has a 12 i agree they shouldn’t upgrade at all unless they broke their phone in some way. the 12 is still great in 2023 and will be for several more years
Just replaced my X after 6 years with a 15 Pro. I loved my X but battery life was terrible, it would often go into SOS mode for 10 minutes or so before regaining service, GPS would sometimes locate me, sometimes it wouldn’t, and the flashlight would work sometimes, and other times it would not. It’s been a great phone, and I plan on keeping it as a spare. The 15 Pro has been a great upgrade so far. I plan on keeping this one for at least 6 years as well.
I should’ve bought the silver version, it looks so good… Space grey looks kinda… meh… I can’t agree more about the battery life, and my X heats up pretty quick.
I’ve been using my iPhone XS Max since it first came out. But this past weekend I had to upgrade to the iPhone 14 Pro Max because the phone suddenly stopped working when I updated to the latest software 16.6.1. It started restarting itself over and over again and only worked if I used an Apple charger and not the 3rd Party fast chargers. I really loved my XS Max but let see how this 14 does
It’s crazy how expensive this phone was and popular when it came out and now it’s just not even worth it now I do believe the 11 and newer should age very well
My dad brought the iPhone X in May 2018 and used it all the way up until yesterday when he upgraded to the iPhone 15. The phone was still working great for him however the battery life was had become quite poor. Other than that it was still working fine. I am impressed by how long it has lasted.
It’s a pretty good phone. But mine is finally dying. The battery is terrible and it’s ability to connect to the internet away from home is getting bad. 😭
@@tsuk2430 it’s in very good shape. I got it very cheap recently despite it being the 512GB version because the microphone was supposedly broken but everything is working and it looks almost like new. The 90% battery health is the only thing showing it’s been used. It’s the gold colour and it looks very good. Much better than the only other gold phone I’ve had which was a Samsung Galaxy S7.
6 years and it still remembers my face. Upgrading to the latest would be worth it. But definitely I will not get the feelings and excitement I had when upgraded to X ❤.
I really love my X, I’ve had to replace the battery several times over the years but wow she is so reliable, she has always been so good to me. I have considered switching over to android as she is reaching 6 years old but I would really miss IOS.
Given how non-innovative the release of the iPhone 15 was I’d say that sticking with the iPhone X is a pretty smart decision tbh, this one being the last one that came out with actual innovations, me personally I’m still using the iPhone XR, and I have yet to see any lack of production from this device
i’m just now upgrading to a newer iphone after years but i’ll miss my iphone x. it felt so fancy when it was new and now it’s on life support at 73% battery capacity
And also the fact that he didn’t get iOS 17 kind of makes me sad because it only two years or even less you’ll start to see messages like “do you want to download the last compatible version” or “download an older version of this app?”
I’m still using this phone today. Feels as snappy as the day I bought it and have no desire to get a new phone. I’m going to use this phone until the day Apple stops releasing security updates for it.
The iphone X is still completely usable for web browsing, social media, and casual pictures today. That’s what most people use it for. This is prime example of planned obsolescence. Apple stops supporting it despite the hardware being fully capable and still more powerful than the cheapest entry level android phone. It’s fully capable of running tik tok and IG for another 5 years.
I just recently dropped my phone and I finally think I am going to buy a new phone, my X has been pretty slow for a while but this was my wake up call, it would cost more than it’s worth to replace the screen
Since its at end of life software support on updates and the battery life, its not worth it. At some point, my IPhone 11 will be the same way 2 years from now.
What? Just updated 17. 03, battery is fine, I’m writing this on the iPhone 10 s max 256 gb. Does just fine can do nearly anything you need, and still in the eco system.
