I love the pencil reamer. Even has a spare blade in the handle. Be careful. This reamer can slip out of the pipe while your reaming and put your eye out.
i like the idea of this however,after 33 yrs in the field and installing 1000,s of ac units,first with soft solder,then brazing..i gotta wonder about the longevity of these.i still have units that i installed in the early 90,s with braze without nitro that are still cruising along..to me,the biggest downside to brazing is getting burnt!it happens...the other thing is..unless the manufacters start offering the condensers and coils with press fittings installed,gotta drag out the turbo torch anyway...so
Company I work for is big on these on the construction side. Hundreds of these fittings installed. I’ve seen maybe 3 leak over the years. Always on the smaller pipe.
Isn’t that weird, I’ve had the same, it was a bad press, fitting slipped out and didn’t make a good seal. That’s only one I’ve had. About to use it on a VRF job. 22 tons of heat recovery 😬😆
Just sayin if you have an o ring pop out like that take a little vac oil and a clean pick or screw driver they pop right back in and the oil keeps it from rolling up in the fitting
so, how would you compare this system to ProPress fittings for linesets? My deteriorating body says ProPress is looking good, but my brain says stick with brazing/silver solder. ;~)
Honestly until manufacturers make this easier to adopt. Like a “zoomlock” unit with extensions on the outdoor/indoor units. It may not be worth the investment. Saves you on nitro. Great for commercial linesets, I’ve seen some manufacturers distance themselves from these due to leaks.
They have had good success with testing and even recommend using refrigeration oil or parker lube if needed these are HBNR O-rings RLS has an excellent product.
How much zoomlock of 1/2 od & 1/4 od & complete toolkit of Zoomlock because I am from India & what's procedure of purchase Zoomlock kit thank you very much I am waiting for your reply
I think the smallest they do is like 1/2 OD Appliances typically have 1/4 inch. Just look at your fridge. Plus they’re too compact I don’t see how I would even fit the head of the tool in any of those units.
It um seems to um be um a good um idea if you don't um want to um braize um with a heat torch but um you um might want to um concider um 🤔 reviewing your um videos before you um post it. Um 😆
Haven’t used it on any VRF, sentiment in the industry shows they’re getting away from that. We have pressure tested to 550 psi with these without issue. We have an upcoming job we thought might be a good candidate for these, but manufacturer expressed they’ve had issues with the fittings in the past.
We (Arrow Heating - Toronto ) have used these fittings and Zoomlock says they are rated to max burst pressure of 3000 psi , operating pressure of 700 psi
I’m not sure the EPA would mandate this but who knows. It is something that I hope becomes as popular in HVAC as these press on fittings have become in plumbing. Just need to get manufacturers onboard
Yeah pipe joining is better left to the material and situation, not government mandate. If it qualifies to handle potentially explosive gas under pressure it should be tested and added or subtracted from a list .
Don't sand the pipe!! You want that O-ring to seal on a completely ROUND and smooth surface, not a scratched up surface; you "scuff" up the surface to allow for better adhesion for solders and SilFos, not for these systems! The scratches you make actually tear up the O-ring as you insert!!
Awesome man, just keep it clean. Use isopropyl alcohol and swish it around every so often, then connect to your vacuum pump and run it for 5 min or so. They’ll work great if you maintain them.
You can either use zoomlock press or the Milwaukee M12 press. They also have different types of jaws that go for either press. I bought the press and jaw kit separately
Lol, it’s amazing when you re-watch the video how many times you say it. Take practice to remove that when you’re speaking for an audience. You have to follow each step, installation procedure is everything. So far every joint has been holding up well. If they fail it’s because of user error. The O ring inside is what concerns me most when I’m pressing a joint. If that moves you still have copper to copper bond. I understand your concern though. I was skeptical too
Yea but by the time you follow all those steps, I could've brazed all 4 connections, and 9.5 outta 10 times, I only have 4 joints,....2 at each unit! With that thing u gotta squeeze it 8 times then u gotta cut the bell off the suction line valve...at both units, then....... just braze it and done!
No I totally get it, and you’re right. It’s not there yet. It does save you from flowing nitro, and hauling all that off your truck. Manufacturers haven’t caught up with this new technology yet either
@@topgunheatingandairllc2197 right! What I dont trust is when a Condenser fan fails and that thing goes to 620psi on and off til I can get there.......just bad news!
