I often looked up to my sisters growing up and I find myself inspired by women more than men as I feel you are raw, authentic and so vulnerable with your audience, it’s a product of your faced adversities manifesting themselves as resources and lessons for others. Wow Kudos to you for taking both Step 1 and Step 2 so close together! I think the step 1 knowledge will help though and youre fresh off of clinicals and shelf exams etc, Im sure you rocked step 1 and will rock step 2 even more!! Congrats on finishing, enjoy your celebration 🥳

No BUT required after your first statement. She should continue striving for her goals. We will cross that bridge once we get there. Too many people get hung up in the weeds about what adcoms will think about this or that and stop pursuing what they want. She will do great, and it will be a wonderful story to tell and demonstrate perseverance and resilience. Keep going, Erin 🤍🤍🤍🙌🏽

Step 2 is typically taken somewhere in the June - September time frame after concluding your third year of medical school. I would have taken Step 2 around this time if it weren’t for having to catch up and take Step 1 due to pandemic delays. So I felt as though taking them back to back would be most beneficial since the knowledge is all there, and I could just grind them out and be done. I’ve given myself five weeks because I will be starting my next rotation at the end of July so I wanted to get Step 2 out of the way before I started the rotation. Hopefully that answered your question!

Yeah, the USMLE does not give us 1 hour of authorized break time. They only give us 45 minutes. So most people recommend that you skip the 15 minute tutorial so that you can have those 15 minutes added to your break time to make it 1 hour. Also, if you finish a block early and end it, any time you have left over from that block gets added to your break time. But yeah, the time constraint definitely sucks. Also, did you have any questions that required you to use headphones?

Thank you for this breakdown! It was unclear to me going into the test, and the staff did not explain this. Yes, I had about 4-5 questions that required headphones!

Praise, I’m not going to lie… it was ANNOYING. Mostly because I was nervous and breathing faster than normal so having the mask on was uncomfortable. Sometimes I would fidget with it and/or pull it down just to get a good breath and reset. It wasn’t the end of the world, but definitely be sure to wear a mask that is comfortable and gives you as little issues as possible.

I would never wear a shirt to show off my 'melanin' if my people had no history & got constantly used by others. I guess that's something to be proud of for you. And you have your slave owners last name "Carter".
