The last 5 years have been frustrating as a USMNT fan. I follow all these players with their clubs and I see the talent we have and it gives me hope we can go toe to toe with the best but the last cycle's coach was holding us back by not playing our best to get them comfortable playing with each other on the pitch. All 4 Nation's league games finally came together and our best 11 got put on the pitch and were allowed to play freely. The frustration sets in when US soccer federation went ahead and hired that same coach that was holding us back. There is a good chance we will not see this level of play again in the next 3 years. That really saddens me greatly. It's like having a Ferrari in the garage but you keep showing up to the races in a Ford Escort.

The Olympics for men's national soccer is an under 23 year old tournament so it is not as important. The most important cup for men's national soccer is the World Cup. This tournament that you just watched is the Nations League, which is where all the national teams in North America and Carribean island nations compete. The US played and beat Canada in the final 2-0 after this match. Each continent has their own Nation's League tournament. Spain just won the European Nations League. Club soccer is different from international soccer. Club teams can buy players from any nation around the world, and the best club teams are in Europe. For most of the year, players play for their club teams, and during internation breaks and the summer break, players who are good enough get called up to play for their national team. The other leagues you mentioned like La liga and the Premier League are for club teams in Spain and England respectively. The top leagues for club soccer is in England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. The Champions League is a club competiton in Europe where the best teams from the top European leagues compete. Usually, the top 4, sometimes 3, best teams in the English, Spainish, German, Italian, and French leagues get a spot in the Champions League, with some worse leagues getting some teams in there too.
