DPS = delivery point sequence. DPS is basically letter sized mail that is sorted and sequenced by machine in order of your route. FSS = flats sequencing system. FSS is magazine sized mail.
When I started as a mail handler I was considered career from the first day. I was a PTF for 19 months. Been there for 17.5 years now. Cool seeing how other crafts work.
I did CCA in Phoenix and was at station North West. We had 61 mail routs and I started at 61, then after my 8 hours I’d had to go help other career carriers with there route. Call for a very long day. Never really knew my day off because at that time we did Amazon Sundays. So I only had 1 day off. Had 3 bosses, and everyone said something different and had one following you on your route. Broke down twice and was attack 3 times by dogs. We had to scrounge for a uniform until your clothing allowance came thru. I did a hop-n- stop which covers over 12 miles on this route. All of this I did in the summer heat but no ones tells you about bathroom break and were to take the. Most circle k don’t allow you to use there bathrooms. You’re given an orange time card which you slide it every time you come back to the station. To become career it would take 3 years of this, oh and COD had to be the exact amount. Worst job I ever had and worst people I ever knew. You can’t call in sick or they would let you go. My first day I was given a warning because I was late getting back to the station, union Stuart was there and said nothing. I lasted almost a year and called it quits because I’ve been asking for two days off four months in advance and didn’t get it. Money was good and that’s why I stayed but I just wasn’t worth it. I had no set route, didn’t know when my days off would be, could plan anything with family, and the heat on the road, truck were just to much. Some. People that became RCA are still there and enjoy it. Now I own a motorcycle shop and I love it. Happy you enjoy your job, just telling you what I went thru and suffered thru 117* heat every day for 5 months or more.
I have an llv on my route via rural. Watched how the city sets up to deliver and no need to mark packages. Yes, it takes some time to get fluent on casing and delivering the mail.
I used to try and bring packages along with me on my splits but I have just been hoping them all before or after or doing all the evens up to my parking point then all the odds after it seems to be quicker that way for me.
The both have pros and cons walking is good cause your getting a workout.. where as some days you might not want all walking so mounted can be a little bit of a reliever
the tray in the LLV holds 3 trays From back to front I did non cased sprs then machined mail then cased flats and letters If managements sees this in my old office automatic time wasting practice You either have the easiest office or don't know yet Good luck
I’m coming up on my evaluation. For the most part I am good but I’m not understanding why they would give me an entire route to finish in 2-4 hours. Which logically can not be don’t maybe 6/7 hours. I try my best but I always bring the mail back. IT DONT make sense to me I’m really beating myself about that part. I’m always being talked about I’m not suppose to bring mail back I’m like it don’t make sense it CAN NOT be done!!! I’m really thinking about quitting just because of this one issue
the way he's explaining it rather than the other few females I watched. make me wanna give it a try. they made it seem like nightmare. The Sunday work delivering amazon packages do seem like a headache still but all that walking is crazy and I'm pre diabetic
@@je6334 yes it is the same.scooters or mini motorcycles are used in urban environment when it's too difficult for trucks. Sometimes we also use bicycle. Sorry for my broken english😅
I always split left side to the driving and left side nbus hope you still working cause they made it illegal to take pictures or videos of mail with address on it ALSO ALL NEW CCA THAT READ THIS OPT FOR A RT AS SOON AS YOU CAN
Your video calmed my nerves a bit lol! I worked at Amazon and loved the physical work , and this seems like what I’m used to. One question tho! When you say walking you mean like to the door steps of each home or do you walk an entire block at one time?
Routes are broken down into hours. So if your in a truck, you’ll park on a corner, maybe do the two blocks next to you (door to door) plus some side streets, then to the next hour. Mounted routes deliver box to box and stay in the truck
@@chriscrump9135 Np and to add to that, there are also walking stations. No vehicles at all. All your mail is put into what are called relay boxes and the route will guide your from box to box.
Do you have to park? I start soon and I don’t mind walking, but can I just drive to each house and drop it in mail box/house or Is it prohibited? And do the trucks monitor what goes on in truck?
Depends on the route. And no, they don’t monitor the trucks but they can monitor the scanner. When your new, your supervisor may follow and check on you.
What rules did they give you as far as recording on the route? I have a friend on a rural route and he wants to do videos like you but didn't know what was allowed. thanks for the content
I just started recording lol.. I mean use better judgment if you have to think hard about if you should show something then it probably wouldn’t be good to post it.. dont show the inside of the office and definitely don’t show peoples address
The case is set up for the individual route on how to sort it so you don't have to come back. If you don't know the route just grab so much mail that is over kill to make sure you don't have to go back
Lol when I started the very first time in 2020 I was a bit worried I would see some of the carriers get done fast af.. im like ok what can I improve on, but its really just knowing the routes and knowing in your mind how long is it going to take you to get the relays done in the most efficient way. You said November give it more time and youll see it gets easier 👌🏾
No at USPS you do it by the street typically you’ll deliver the packages by the order of the mail.. however when you load your mail truck there is a feature that tells you what order the packages go by sections 1-6. Amazon Sundays there is a gps organizer though just not Mon-Saturday
Question , as far as you know, do you think being a CCA in a town of 7,500 is better than being one in a town of 35,000? I'm thinking the smaller town might be easier to work in, or maybe faster to get promoted in?
Smaller could be easier to work in but in terms of converting to regular sooner could be much longer than working at a busier office.. the more open routes the quicker CCAS get turned over
@@LawrenceSimms Another question. Why are USPS such sloppy shitwads that after I accept an offer I never hear from them, and they don't answer calls or emails? Just what I was expecting from a garbage organization. What else would I expect from a government organzation?
@@LawrenceSimmsfacts. I’m in a busy city. Paterson NJ .. and I was only a cca for 2 weeks . Just enter my first bid Monday for a route . Hopefully I get it
I’d get fired for leaving keys in the ignition. Our office is strict about it. Anytime you get out, you have to take the keys. Even for garbage cans in your way. LLV off, keys out, just to step out and reach a box.
Ive always went to a store that sells postal uniforms although its been a while since ive purchased postal gear.. but you can check out postaluniformsdirect.com
Lol im trying to picture that. If its a lot of cased mail I put it on my arm but soon as it gets low I transfer it all to hand.. or if its really low I just case it all together before I start walking the relay
I completed my fingerprints on April 19th it's now May 9th, I haven't heard any correspondence yet, how long does it usually take for the background check and how many years do they go back?
@@LawrenceSimms oh really why is that? Does it speed up the process? The location I applied for is the one I really want to be at I heard they are growing really fast,
@@caylee3277 Have you contacted the person that emailed you for the fingerprints? Well from what I remember doing the fingerprints doesnt “guarantee” you a position. When you get the orientation date thats when you know you got it and the person who told us that also said if your waiting for more than 3 weeks then it probably be best to reapply, but everywhere is different so idk
Im familiar with your videos good job.. appreciate the heads up though I didn’t show any addresses. I already know before making vids like this to blur them out or not show it
@@MachoManNRock just filming this they'll fire you even if you can't see them. My job is more important than making a RU-vid video showing mail and packages on the clock.
I mailed at counter Joliet IL post office, two grandsons birthday cards, and they were stolen while in postage procession, thieves in the post office, and usps has failed to respond or talk with me, but if somebody stolen mail out of a mail box, postal inspectors can track them down but not in the post office, go figures. Lost trust in the people we pay to trust and pay taxes and postage tax fee to service us. Defund and privatize the postal service period,
Really?? Smh 🤦🏾♂️ im sorry that happened yeah that’s ridiculous.. I don’t blame you on the lost trust part but I do want to point out the post office does not get funded by tax dollars.. all revenue comes from stamps and packages. Also next time if you do ship something like that definitely get the tracking with it
Currently their base pay is $19.33 nationally. It's really good money in states with lower living costs. But even in cali it's decent money. Also the last thing ccas have to worry about is too little hours. But on the other hand 6 day work weeks are pretty much guarenteed if not more (one week 7 days one week 6). So if that many hours doesnt work well with your life it can be rough
@@myst93 I'm still a CCA. I like the job. The biggest downside is that I don't get much time off. Typically I work six days a week and sometimes more. The plus side is that the work itself is enjoyable. I get to be outside and exploring my city, doing a public service.
Youll see them all the time, I don’t pay them much attention I just walk passed them.. most of them dont do anything if anything the little ones are the ones wanting to bite 🤣
@@LawrenceSimms damn, I start on Wednesday and I got bit by a German Shepard when I was a teen. Still love dogs but i might just give an aggresive dog these hands or if it comes to it, phone check em lol
@@louierivera330 lmao they give you dog spray if you havent got it already.. you wont really need to ever use it though most people know better to keep their dog tamed..
@@louierivera330 💪🏾I appreciate that brother.. yeah thats why I make them so people have an idea of what they would be doing and what goes on at the job
