I'm the one on throttles watch in the aft engine room. Capt. Earl ( Buddy ) Yates was the best captain we had while I was on board. I was an E-5 Machinist's Mate when I left the ship in May 1971.

My duty was from '93-96. We left Norfolk to refit in Philly for two years then homeport change to Mayport in '95. Then I got out '96. I wonder they ever did with all of that beautiful wood that was in the Captain's Cabin. I'll bet most of the momentos went on the new Kennedy.
