USS PC-1179 screening invasion forces off Okinawa, on April 1, 1945 

USS PC-1179 screening the invasion forces of Task Force 51 off Hagushi, Okinawa, on April 1, 1945. Since March 22, PC-1179 was off Okinawa assisting Minesweeper Group One (Task Group 52.4), Sweep Unit 7 (Task Unit 52.4.3), with pre-invasion minesweeping operations. However, with such operations over by L-Day, April 1, she reported to the Transport Screen (Task Group 51.5) where she undertook patrol and screening duties.
