Best Bageshri rendition on the net by the maestro UBGAK accompanied by perhaps his son UMAK. Many thanks to Mr. Chowdhury for this rare treasure. My heartfelt gratitude for this unique recording.
Much of the gayaki is by Ustad Munawar Ali Khan, the son of the maestro Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib. This recording is from the last stages of the master. Salute to these voices and the Kasur Patiala Gharana that has such illustrious lineage and legacy. Long live these maestros. In 22:00 mins we hear the master as a teacher, explaining the rhythm patterns to the audience. 🙏 Ustadji.
Excellent performance. Have we noticed , how Khan sahab, at the start of Tarana, very gently corrected the Tabla Nawaz for Jhaptal (10 bit taal) when he (tabla Nawaz) misunderstood the Tarana bandish as in Ektall and had (tabla Nawaz) started playing 12 bit taal. Very gentle gesture of a genius.
