The Importance of Reading Yasin's Letter
Surah Yasin has great virtue in Islam so it is worth reading for some time. For example, before going to bed, after the Fajr prayer or at some other time. Because it is a loss for those who do not take advantage of the virtues of Surah Yasin.
In the hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi and al-Darimi, the Prophet SAW said, "Verily everything has a heart, and indeed the heart of the Qur'an is Yasin, whoever reads it as if he reads the Qur'an ten times".
The virtue of Surah Yasin is also explained in the commentary of Imam Ibn Kathir. That from Abu Hurairah, Rasulullah SAW said, "Whoever reads Surah Yasin at night, then the next day he is forgiven. Whoever reads Ha Mim in which Dukhan is mentioned (Surah Ad-Dukhan), then in the morning (his sin) pardoned."
Meanwhile, in another narration, namely the history of Ath-Thabrani and Ibn Mardawaih from Anas RA, "Whoever gets used to reading Surah Yasin every night, then he dies, then he dies a martyr."
The scholars have agreed that the Qur'an with all its Surahs and verses contains goodness and blessings. And Surah Yasin is one of the suras that has a lot of history about it. So reading Surah Yasin is a reason to ask for forgiveness and remove sins.
The virtue of Surah Yasin is also explained in the hadith narrated from Jundab bin Abdullah. In the book of hadith Imam Ibn Hibban explained that Jundab bin Abdullah said, Rasulullah SAW said, "Whoever reads Surah Yasin one night because he hopes to please Allah SWT then his sins will be forgiven."
Surah Yasin is also preferred to be read for people who are nearing death. From Maqil bin Yasar, Rasulullah SAW said, "Read Surah Yasin for those who will die among you." (Narrated by Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah and An-Nasa'i)
The majority of scholars, including Imam Shafi'i, Imam Hanafi, and Imam Hanbali, also think that reading Surah Yasin for people who are near death is sunnah. The scholars quoted the hadith.
The reason why most scholars recommend reading Surah Yasin to people who are about to die, is because it contains monotheism and a place of death. So that it will be good news for believers who died with Surah Yasin.
