They are not 100% necessary. Usually you can get it to stay without them. However, you can also get some hangers to hang the sporran from your belt. www.utkilts.com/sporran-hangers-black/
This is the WRONG way to put a sporran on! The first time to put a sporran on yes, so that you can get the right size hole in the belt. Once that is done. You only need to un-clip one of the clips at the back of the sporran to take it off. And now you never need to mess with the the belt again. Just loop it through the kilt at the back and clip it onto the sporran.
Thanks for that! I do disagree as I always put my sporran on that way. Especially since many prefer to purchase our deluxe sporran chains that don't use the clips.
@@utkiltsbrice I’m 59 and been wearing a kilt since a child has we all do in the highlands. Only ever seen these sporrans hangers with utility kilts sometimes. Guessing it’s something new?? Not really used in Scotland unless you are a large person. Every I know and have seen puts on their sporrans with the chain clip. I haven’t seen a sporran without a chain unless it’s a utility.
@@sunseeker8457 Interesting! The really nice chains I get from Scotland typically don't have those clips. I actually prefer them as I think they look much, much nicer. The other issue is I have multiple kilts, from 4 yards up to 8 yards. My 8 yards use a different setting than my 4 yards to I end up adjusting them anyways. utkilts.com/products/deluxe-sporran-chain-strap?_pos=1&_psq=chain&_ss=e&_v=1.0
@@utkiltsbrice its a chain. Ice even tried to take out the little leather connector that attaches the chain to the sporran itself but it still hangs out around mid to low thigh
I have two kilts and the first I bought is not little small but it's still wearable, the second one has the two loops in the but the back doesn't have any or even the one. Suggestions?
