Thank you for the upload! Love both of these teams. Really love UCLA Leo’s really miss Jordan Chiles in the line up. She brings so much life to the party!
It’s an unpopular opinion but even when UCLA had Jordan Chiles I really don’t think they’ve ever really been in contention for the National title since 2019. UCLA makes a habit out of relying on 1 or 2 stars to carry the team which is really their downfall when it comes to post-season because the rest of the team is so inconsistent. Just my opinion though. Also that’s why I like Utah as a team because they’ve ALWAYS utilised all their gymnasts in lineups. Especially their freshmen and Sophs competing first in lineups and then slotting their superstars into the back-end of the lineups. It’s a strategy that many teams just don’t do. UCLA literally has about 7 gymnasts on their roster that never compete at all.
2020 would have been a great show down; the current senior class has been plagued with injuries, then 3 coaches in 4 years I think was also a destabilizing effect. Next season I think UCLA will be a real contender with the gymnasts coming back from injury like Barrios and the return of Chiles.
@@1GymFan yeah apart from 2020 but I didn’t really factor that into consideration for obvious reasons but my major annoyance with UCLA is that they have like 7 gymnasts who are basically just background characters at this point. Why recruit so many when they’re never going to make lineups it makes no sense.
I disagree. Other than UCLAs vault and Selena Harris’ bars and floor they looked quite unsteady and tired. While Utah didn’t start off great, they definitely showed up for floor and beam! They were quite underscored on beam. Half of Utah’s beam scores were equal to UCLA’s major wobbles and unstuck landings?
@@Phoeberue12 I prepared myself for a UCLA win because of the judging at home meets. And this is also alumni night. I thought the judges actually showed a lot of restraint on beam and floor for UCLA. Sometimes it seems these judges have a tendency to over score UCLA while simultaneously underscoring the visiting team. At least in the SEC the visiting team gets the same amount of over scoring as the home team. Mostly. Utah's floor rotation was absolutely outstanding! Selena Harris is truly an amazing competitor. She seems so relaxed too!
Utah was underscored on beam in my opinion, but beam scores were a little tight overall. UCLA still lacks consistency and that’s what lost them this meet- I really don’t think they’re in contention for the championship

this broadcast was INCREDIBLE. the technical detail that went in to it really showing what the gymnasts are doing and are scored on was amazing. i really loved it. and thank you for the post as always #1 Gym Fan!!
I really enjoyed watching this meet because both teams are great to watch. especially the floor rotations were awesome! UCLA was great as they are always on floor but this season utah floor routines really look great to me. i could watch mckenna smith and abby paulson all day long on floor. the routines are fitting them so well! :)
I watched all the teams compete and as much as I don't like Oklahoma, they will be champions again, unless they don't have a good day in the final (which I think is very difficult to happen) Florida, LSU, Michigan State and Kentucky run on the outside
idk if ucla will end up in the finals but they're winning the beautiful leo competition... these and those rainbow ones recently are just stunning... unique
@@ShinyJewels04 explained this way you guys do make sense. I didn’t think the squat was bad but you’re right about like the distance and stuff and I didn’t see it last week because I don’t really watch UCLA. I’m only watching the meet because of Utah.
@@MichelleR2796 for me the soft knees wasn’t so much about the squat as it was her position in the air - her knees were clearly bent. Selena def deserves more 10s than she has earned (I think she’s amazing), but deductions like that should be so obvious to judges that they have me punching the air lol
Totally agree. The leg form required a deduction. That being said, Salena Harris is awesome!! Her quality and consistency are so impressive. What an absolute joy to watch.
In every single meet featuring UCLA, the commentators are going to gush about UCLA floor routines, how they magically go viral, and how they have the phenomenal celebrity choreographer BJ Das, who is an assistant coach now iirc. Then they'll probably mention a few mega celebrities for whom BJ has choreographed dances. It's unavoidable. This Utah floor rotation was absolutely gorgeous. I think Myia Hambrick is the choreographer. ❤
@@dronesclubhighjinks Mya did a good job actually. UCLA as they say like to exaggerate their floor but comparingthem to others they are different . And no one will top Miss Val era
@@hazelnutspred3348I’ve agreed with maybe one or two comments she has posted but if you go watch all the videos posted on this channel, she’s has hate comments on ALL of them. I’ve even asked to see a video of her doing gymnastics or a video of her judging 😂😂 of course there is none….shes just a hater
love this team so much but they really can't rely on Selena and a few other gymnasts. We've got some good gymnasts coming in next year so hopefully we'll see consistency and cleaner gymnastics next year. Still looking out for the rest of this season for them to really figure it out even if they end up not being in contention for the championship.
also did anyone notice that when they were doing that filler thing about pauley pavilion the put up a pic of Bart and underneath it said he had won olympic gold for team and uneven bars 😂
After the first two rotations I was so disgusted. I check Instagram after floor and we’re up 2 tenths. I feel guilty coming here to watch our floor rotation.
Utah girls look like they're choking on their Leo's..😢😬giving my age here: Shannon Miller's Leo's had the same affect... Not just her, but that time frame and popularity of this high collar.
How many meets do you watch? The high collar is extremely popular for some reason. I'd be surprised if you can find one team who doesn't have a leo like that. ❤
@@dronesclubhighjinks lol I wore them myself for yearssss. My comment mostly refers to the fact their theirs is super tight around the neck and comes undone while competing. Nothing against the team, just the tailor or brand. Duh they're popular, they were decades ago and will be again.... Doesn't have ANYTHING to do with "how many meets" I watch. 🤔🤣
