I like the emphasis on the equipment people. I've never thought about how someone has to actually transport this. I thought the players did it. The equipment team has so much to do!
Hey thanks heaps for posting this. I know it's slightly old, but it's always interesting to see behind the scenes. We need to appreciate more what happens away from the NBA players. Amazing stuff...
I went to high school with B.Z. he was a good player back in 89. Funny I was the basketball mgr.now he's doing I was doing. He gets paid good, unlike in high school you don't get nothing but the glory of possibly working with a future NBA star. B.Z.-Brian Settler Hachie class of 89
Utah jazz is travels a lot, also blazers..their division opponents are more distant compared to other NBA divisions especially in the east...charter flights are more convenient...
If I could go back in time and give this Quin Snyder some encouragement I would say, "Hang in there Quin. Someone special will be coming to your squad in a few short years. He's going to be an amazing basketball player and even better human being."
Teams do that to distract, or make it harder, and much better, prevent the inbounder from making the pass of for instance, an alley oop play if there isn't that much time. But yeah, that's a great point, putting your big man, which in that case, their best defender around the rim, was detrimental in the last play as they weren't able to protect the rim. Maybe they should just stick with their match ups instead of risking for others to score.
Where did all the money comes from for overall operations talent fees and expenses it looks like a team is consist of up to 50 people including the office staffs.
Damn they stayed at the Westin those are nice ass hotels, one time I went into one thinking it was my hotel but it was actually on the next street, I get off the elevator from the parking garage into the lobby and walk right into a Uniformed cop with a K9 police dog mean while I had a little bit of weed and a bunch of coke in my bag. Dodged a bullet on that one lol. I said oh this the WESTIN???? Wrong place and left faster than a Bucks first round exit
No I wasn't really running away after getting wet Willied since I'm the joke of the league. I'm tough! It just looked that way. I was going to run back and stand up after someone WET WILLIED me as a grown man!
Coach Snyder, you talk to much. If more coaches were like Phil Jackson, or Coach Pop in San Antonio, who, (on more that one occasion), both famously told their players during timeouts, "y'all screwed it up, so y'all figure it out" perhaps there'd be more champions in the league. I mean u talk to the guys at practice (when u can practice), walkthroughs, before the game, during the game at timeouts, half time, after the game, it's info overload. I know they're pros, but my goodness, guys will tune u out sooner or later. If they haven't learned at a certain point, and you have to do the "college coach" thing by standing, screaming and pointing from the sideline during the game, what does that say about your preparation if they haven't learned it at some point? (And yes I know this was 5 years ago, but you're still coaching).
