I'm a daily kilt-wearer and have only worn traditional worsted wool tartan kilts (both 13oz and 16oz). I've been a kilt snob, I guess, because I always viewed utility kilts as silly. But, the more I saw how much utility kilt-wearers seemed to really enjoy them (and, also, owned traditional worsted wool kilts), my interest peaked. I love fishing and tent camping. I often wear kilts while camping. Traditional kilts are great and they are tough, but there's always that chance of ruining them in a camping environment. So, I looked into UT Kilt's Standard Utility Kilts. I purchased one. It only arrived last week and I wore it to work for the first time just the other day. I have to say, I love it! Very comfortable to wear. Not only that, it's fun to wear! I've actually ordered a couple more. Though I still love my woolies, these utility kilts from UT Kilts have their place and will definitely find themselves in my daily kilt rotation. I can't wait to wear them on my next camping/fishing outing. I'd also like to mention they are machine washable. Good video, by the way.

So cool ...I love kilts too ...not courageous enough to wear them as much as I like but just here and there . I tend to wear mine just above the top of the knee .. Nearly all mine I like a kilt pin but yours without one looks amazing ...Thanks Toby so much ...I'm in Tasmania , Australia

I bought a wool utility kilt from UTKilts about a year and a half ago. I love it! I got the Black Watch Weathered tartan, and it's the Ultimate model with pockets everywhere. They are the only outfit selling wool utility kilts as far as I know. Even though it's a wool kilt, it was less than $125 shipped. It was not my first kilt. I have a couple of Utilikilts and a 5.11 Tactical kilt, as well as another UTKilts model. You can't have just one kilt!

How does the pockets affect the pleats?

No apparent impact. Utility kilts seem to have wider and fewer pleats than traditional.

@@TheKiltedAdventurer the wider and fewer pleats are from having less material than a traditional 8-yard wool kilt. You will find the same goes for, say, a 5-yard wool kilt...wider and fewer pleats.
