I do say that Garganacl was a bit underrated since it punished steel spam a lot, but even then it was an overall niche pick which meant that it was hard to fit in a team The only other way of stopping it was Giratina, who could thunder wave it or burn it if it had already tera. It could also potentially dragon tail it away so it would take more hazard damage. However, this solution was really temporary and it wouldn't work against a last Mon Arceus-Fire. Also, having to always run physically defensive Giratina sucks when you can take advantage of it by running a fairy type like Magearna or Zacian to completely ignore it.
Thank you very much for the comment! You're definitely right, so thank you for the correction, I had a lot happen this week and so this video didn't go into as much detail as I would've liked. Thank you a lot for adding additional information here, I really appreciate it :)
Scrolled through a few recommendations and this video popped up. This is just another one of those incredibly underrated channels. The passion on display isn't artificial, and you translate that well with your insight regarding competitive Pokémon.
People need to learn from Ho-oh being B rank (above average) even in Gen 4 Ubers, a time where Heavy-Duty Boots and Regenerator were not options for it, that a weakness to Stealth Rocks alone isn't enough to reign in a mon. If the only "surefire" way to counter a mon is to bring another specific mon, then I do think a quickban is justified.
UUbers is not an in between line between Ubers and OU, UUbers is a parallel meta to OU where not just Ubers but any Pokemon that fails to reach 4.52% of usage in Ubers is allowed, until its banned like Arceus-Fire
Please explain the salient difference between these two definitions. Underused is the tier where any pokemon that fails to meet some usage threshold to be consiere OU is used, unless they are banned to UUBL. What would a hypothetical UOU be, going by your distinction?
The basic difference is that in UUbers, OU pokemon can be banned, one notable case is Hatterene who got a higher then 4.52% usage in Ubers for a few months, which resulted in it being banned. Their comment is a bit misleading though, Arceus Fire is banned but not because of too much usage, instead it's banned because of a suspect test which the voting resulted in it's ban.
@@EvelynIsBased "OU pokemon can be banned" In the sense that the mon in question is permitted in OU but banned in UUbers? Because that would actually make the two formats parallel, rather than strictly hieriarchical
Yes in the sense that a Pokemon can be allowed in OU but banned in UUbers. This mostly works this way because otherwise UUbers bad legends wouldn't be used, and people would more typically use one or two legendaries and a handful of support OU mons
@@EvelynIsBased I never said Arceus was banned because of usage what are yall talkin about, "until its banned" is a sentence that has nothing to do with the usage tf? Aint nun misleading
Funnily enough it isn't lol, they're are a few legendaries that are far too good in the tier and way outshined in Ubers. Real sad thing is mons like Lugia using UUbers as OUBL
@@EvelynIsBased actually you raised the question what is the difference between Ubers and OUBL? Each other tier has a BL but OU doesn’t. It’s just Ubers. And by that logic does it make Anything Goes UbersBL?
I believe BL isn't a real tier, simply a definition to help guide players. For example you can't play UUBL as a tier, but it informs you that these mons are technically OU, or are because they can't be in UU, but are not good enough as actual pokemon to be a part of the tier (as in above 4.52% usage). So the difference between Ubers and OUBL? Well Ubers is a tier for legendaries and stronger mons too good for OU to play, I think the defining difference is that OUBL would just inform you which ones aren't that good in Ubers, while still being too good for OU. I think OU doesn't have a BL because it doesn't really need one, OU and Ubers are vastly different landscapes, and you don't really need to know what mons aren't good, because you can typically kinda tell, like with Lugia. In OU, every mon can't have a 720 BST, while others have a 520 BST, so it can be harder to define where ones are good, so less thought and work is put in so they don't need to make a UbersBL.
@justakrabbe6130bro got his movepool destroyed. It can't even thunder wave to do progress. It walls almost everything that a Great wall should wall, but it struggles to do anything with that. It's to the point where whirlpool is one of its most used moves.
Same, I used it pre ban when I heard people talk of it's ban and decided to play a few rounds with it, was a very easy end game or middle game sweeper if given one free turn.
@@EvelynIsBased It just sucks that Arceus-Fire will be overshadowed by Ground, Fairy, and Normal in Ubers, especially since Dragon Dance + Flare Blitz + E-Speed is such a fun combo in my opinion
@Light_2461 I wish each form/type of Arceus apart from Normal Arceus (its thing is already that it can use other items) could have a small additional perk to using it that is tied to Multitype, such as Arceus-Fire gaining a small Attack/Sp. Atk boost (mini Guts or Flare Boost), Arceus-Steel taking a bit less from SE attacks (mini Filter), Arceus-Bug gaining a bit of accuracy on its moves (mini Compound Eyes), etc etc. I know that would never be a thing in a million years, because no one would really care outside of specifically Smogon Ubers players or maybe occasionally in VGC when Legendaries are available to use and it would take a bit of programming to implement, but the thought is rad as hell.
Great video! I just wanna point out a small point that was incorrect. Garganacl is not a dead mon in most games without arc fire or chi-yu. It is actually quite good as a wall to much of the tier, stealth rock setter, and general nuisance with salt cure damage. While it is a tera hog, it's a tera hog that on many teams (primarily balance) was worth the sacrifice. Even without tera it can answer common mons like scarf Kyurem-White and Reshiram. With tera, it checks Palafin, Palkia-O, Gholdengo, and Zamazenta-c (depending on the sets). Even if it doesn't wall any specific offensive threat, salt cure is threatening to literally everything and defensive mons don't like to be against it generally speaking. not a top tier mon but it certainly has a niche and has had it for the tier's entire lifespan.
Ah, thank you for the correction! Apologies for the mistake, from what I'd seen I saw a lot that it wasn't great but I can definitely see how it can benefit balance with it's hard to get elsewhere abilites. Thank you a lot I appreciate it :)
Found it here! downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/the-legend-of-zelda-breath-of-the-wild It is the Ballad of the Champions from Zelda Botw, I was trying to find a video on RU-vid but I couldn't so here's just the website I downloaded it from lol
I'm aware that many Arceus Forms use taunt for tanky Calm Mind recover sets, but I couldn't find any information pertaining to Arceus Fire running it, which I assumed was due to its more lackluster defensive typing compared to the tiers Arceus Dark or Poison. I don't doubt that Taunt fire may be a set, it counters a few specific mons, but I just couldn't validate putting it in the video when I rarely found mention of it's use, most sets I heard complaints of for problematicness, were Trailblaze/Earthquake, Swords dance, Recover, Flare Blitz, and Extreme Speed sets, with Taunt and Quake mostly being niche sets, so I chose to not include them. Thank you for watching though, hopefully you still enjoyed :)
This is actually an interesting topic, as the mentioned Arceus Bug is one of the worst Pokemon in the tier, and many of the other Arceus forms are actually Mid to Low tier. This time somehow, god being good was more of the outlier lol
@@EvelynIsBased I dont play ubers much so I don't have much of a proper experience with it, but I think ubers is a place of 'uber' pokemon, come on bro, a lot of these 'judges' power tripping, let the shit cook - banning in ubers silly, its the place for the best and overpowered shit, if you dont like it adjust to the meta - the answer isnt banning, its get good. On another note, I do like your content keep it up and thanks for the reply.
@@austindmundayyou have a point but this is UUbers not ubers, they do not have the same principle of keeping bans to a minimum instead treating it like any other smogon tier
@@EvelynIsBased because theyre mostly unskilled , stupid and predictable and all do the same BS strategy and have the same idoitic movesets then ragequit when they get their idiotic toxic spamming garbish teams destroyed. Also sick of all the complaining and having the constant Pokémon getting banned cuz being all so stupid , need to have the core pokemon game facilitated to a point that its not even Pokémon anymore . Not to mention all the stupid rules they make too. Bunch of elitist brainless Moronic sheep
