We started creating UVC devices and have tested outputs with an Exotech calibrated UVC meter. The only way to truly know if it works is to get a spectral analysis of the light and a power reading. We're super charging mercury vapor bulbs and getting ~18 mW/cm2, inactivating covid in milliseconds. etherclean.com
@@TrulyTaraph Hi Tara and thanks for the response! Our website is etherclean.com We've spent a lot of time and money researching power levels and inactivation time, so if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask!
Thanks for the info and the product but wanna say there is difference between using the term of “sterilization” & “disinfection” Sterilization: the process of killing any bacteria or microorganisms by use of dry heat, high pressure steam or UV light. Disinfection l: the process of eliminating or reducing harmful microorganisms especially with a chemical, from the surface of objects AND : there are 3types of UV-lights that ARE : UV-A UV-B UV-C 😉👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
She doesn't test any of the products and just goes with the manufacturer's instructions. This video should be taken with a grain of salt. I've been part of testing UV-C lights and most of the consumer grade stuff we tested was ineffective for sanitizing anything. To get accurate tests she would have needed a spectrometer calibrated to read the 200nm to 400nm spectrum. The meters used at work cost at least $2000, I don't know if there are cheaper versions out there. Just to be clear I don't know how to calibrate a spectrometer but I managed a team in a large hospital that used it to sterilize surgical equipment. We tested a bunch of consumer grade wands during the pandemic and most were useless.
The devices which are actually effective are those very high in emission. They are large and powerful. They put out enough energy to damage skin and corneas of anyone exposed. There is no handheld device which is capable of producing sufficient energy for effective disinfection.
Um... I don’t think so. Thirty years of emergency medicine practice, a masters in public health and epidemiology. Pretty sure I’ll be fine. Turning a banana brown is a parlor trick. There’s no reason to believe it correlates with virucidal activity. Worse, users think they’re protected, and they’re not.
Thank you for the information, I have a cleaning business and I use the UV-C in many of my applications. It has so far been proven to be extremely effective as more and more of my clients learn about it.
Hi Randen Cleaning and thanks for the comment. Yes UVC lights do help us in disinfection. And it has become more available for home use. But we always have to be careful when operating these devices. Well the very obvious difference is in the color of the UV "ultra violet " lights. Uv lights which are used for sterilization units its cyan blue 💙 But those products that have violent 💜 light r just black light which u see in clubs mostly to make white colors glow or those where to spot fake money or see spots on washed clean clothes or bedsheets in hotels n that wont kill any microorganisms. It will just make things glow. I think thats the best way to spot a real or fake products 👍🏼
@@DrRam-vc4ns I should have been more specific. I meant before you buy them and waste a lot of money and time, also far UVC is not suppose to do damage to skin or eyes.
@@johnbenya9558 Yes, far UVC at 222 nm is ideal because, as you say they do not harm skin or eyes. The sources are sometimes called Excimer bulbs. However if you look at the wikipedia article on Excimer lamps only the krypton-chlorine lamp produces 222 nm radiation. When you look for manufacturers you find out that they are very expensive! Way out of my budget.
I have a portable uvc light, but the intensity of light is so small you have to hold it very close to surface to treat for a long time. Much better, quicker and cheaper for household use is normal household bleach. Just whip household bleach on all surfaces. uvc light is not actually violet, but a sky blue colour.
Thank you for the video. My wife had just bought from Walmart a portable UV sterilizer sterilization lamp UVC-86. I placed this device in my car at night and came back the next day and the car smelled like brand new.
UVC outputs Ozone too! that's why your call smelt so clean. the oxygen molecules are unstable as O3 and looking to bond with anything else. breathing in O3 is dangerous so make sure you let the car air out for a few hours.
Is it possible to have ultraviolet rays irradiated inside a box with fans pumping air into and out of the box? Contaminated air is pumped into the box, sterilized by the UV rays, then pumped out of the box to the room where the box is located. The advantage are: 1. people can safely be in the same room with the box without the risk of being exposed to harmful ultraviolet light. 2. you can use the air-conditioner normally without worrying about temperature or circulation of air. 3. you can safely be in the room without the risk of getting infected by COVID-19 or other airborne viruses. The air inside the room is constantly sterilized by the box. The box should be small, preferably portable. Such a box does not sterilize surfaces, only the air inside a room. Surfaces should be sterilized normally with desinfectant and cloth. Right now there is no way to safely sterilize the air inside a room. You have to open the windows to ensure good circulation of air. But during the winter and summer you need to close the windows and use the air-conditioner to have an ameniable temperature inside the room. Most air-conditioners simply recirculate the existing air inside the room, instead of pumping clean air from outdoors. If someone in the room is infected and shedding viruses into the air, the air gets more and more contaminated. But a UV box that sterilizes the air while allowing the presence of people and the use of air-conditioner could be the solution.

Hard to trust when there aren’t many info online and not many reviews or tests. We need big youtubers to actually review these type of things and test them onto something.
Just for the record I have tried the links and found that the home lamp does not exist... and that if your link was just to have me ho to a site where you are able to hack my device I have now got cyber security to be involved my device will also be tested for trojans or any suspicious hidden files as to pursue you and have justice..... people be aware that I tried one link and the product does not exist on the given link and that it might be their gateway to your device. etc
I use a self blasted 15 dollar on amazon. Compact flouro tube style, preferentially the ozone producing ones. No fomite stand a chance in this environment.
Some UVC lights also emits OZONE which is irritating to lungs, avoid prolonged exposure while the UVC light is at work, do not stay inside the room where UVC light is activated. NOTE: I am using TUBE type UVC lamp 8 WATTS-T5 tube.

Any thoughts for the highest power germacide UVC lamp for sterilizing/disinfecting? COOSPIDER U/V/C Light Lamp 185nm with 253.7nm Bulb 5ft Cord and Plug 110V (6W Ozone Lamp) ? COOSPIDER UV Light Bulb, 36 Watts (E26 110V CTUV-36 with Ozone)? G6 Wellness UVC CFL 25W? BTW, I understand UV LEDs are more powerful than UV CFL Lamps, yet most of the UVC products use CFL not LEDs.. At first I was thinking of using one of those nail polish curing devices.. like the 320W SUN X21 (72 Leds) but they only come in 365-405nm... they don't seem to come in the shorter wavelength (higher frequency) side of the spectrum.. i.e. UV-C (180-280nm).. not UVB (280-315nm) or UVA (315-400nm).

Hi Amy and thanks for the comment. UVC lights kill any living thing within its irradiation area. Covering the plant may not be enough since Ozone gas emitted by the light may also affect the plant. Maybe it is best to just remove the plant for the UVC Irradiation area. UV-C far 222nm is the only thing for now that will probably make a difference. Whenever they get it on the market with prices that aren't so high. More than a few stories around about that being a game changer. Totally ignored by the regular media for obvious reasons, plus they love the virus. Does no damage to skin or eyes so it can stay on all the time. Time will tell but several large lighting companies are currently bringing them to market.
I don’t recommend using UVC light for disinfection because 1. it can only kill what the light can hit. Those in the shadows will not be affected. 2. Exposure time is also important. To disinfect for example the interior of a small car will take around an hour with a small lamp. Waving a wand on the surface for a few second does nothing at all but expose you to harmful radiation. 2. Ozone generators are also not recommended because they are toxic to humans.
Hi Ramon, agree with it can only kill when light directly hits the surface. But we try to use a UVC Box with reflective surfaces to disinfect a lot of items and reduce the shadow areas. I also agree with Ozone as toxic BUT only in significant amounts. That is why it is very important to ventilate or air out a room after using UVC lights with Ozone. Hello po. May i ask if safe po ba i-uv light ang foods? Like mga fish, chicken, pork, beef, fruits, veggies na binili sa market? And also mga loaf bread etc.. na binibili sa mall?
Hello Pearl and thanks for the comment. I would not recommend disinfecting fresh meat or veggies by UV light. For fresh groceries when we get home, we wash the plastic container from the market with soap and water and them place the meat in the freezer. Anyway, we cook the meat making it safe. As for bread, we wash the plastic container also. The loaf bread inside has not been touched by humans when packing. So it should be safe. For other types of bread bought in the bakeshop, we transfer the bread in another container when we get home and heat the bread in the toaster before eating. Hope this helps. For veggies, we immediately wash the veggies from the market with soap and water when we get home. We throw away the plastic from the market and transfer the veggies in a clean container.

Ok, i do. In my country the technology is very incipient it means that nobody knows about this technology; so im interested to find three or more options of uvc light reliable providers who you have be agree ans happy with 110v and know more about the distances that it requires per square meter cause i see there are lights of 18w, 20w, 35w, etc.... another question will be why in couple channel said that is important that when it is working the light no plastics near around it??... another question will be some lights that have mercury, zinc, etc minerals and the cover of "cuarzo" (this word is in spanish sorry i don't know the traslation cause here we speak spanish) they produce ozone and the LED light doesn't produce it. So is more efficient the light with cuarzo or LED? Which is the big difference?... and well while im learning and reading more about this technology for sure i have more question.... thanks so deeply much señorita by your time and patience. It will be very useful to find a good product cause i don't believe in refounds (at least in this country). Dios la cuide. Saludos
Thank you for taking interest in my video. I have not come across any reference that states how many watts is needed per sqm of space needed to be irradiated. I only consider that UV light disinfects by direct exposure so more light is needed to irradiate a big space. Also, we prefer Ozone bulbs since ozone can help disinfect those areas not exposed directly to the light (shadows). I personally do not use LED UV lights. Not sure about the plastic part but I noticed one time when I disinfected my cellphone near the bulb for 30 mins the screen protector (plastic not tempered glass) kind of melted a little. I also use our UV lights to disinfect plastics but not too long exposure. Hope this helps! Please check out my other videos too! Stay safe.
Hello Ruthie! I am wondering that myself. To keep me from being paranoid if its clean or not, I just use the UVC stick/wand for at least 2-5 minutes (depending on surface area to be disinfected). Hi Tara. a) How do we check if a UVC lamp is the ozone type or non ozone type. Aside from the label. b) Are the table top UVC lamps sold online single tube ? Coz I've read studies that single tube Table top UVC lamps are not effective.
a) it has a certain smell after disinfection b) Our bought online is single tube. Not quite confident about efficacy but we use it often. And hospitals use it too.
Hi Jhe and thanks for your comment. I actually have both models and I prefer the EU 220V so that I do not need to buy a step-down transformer anymore. The difference between is the two is US 110V is flat pin Plug BUT 110V while the EU 220V is a round pin plug (Need adaptor to fit wall socket) BUT 220V (Our Voltage used in the Philippines). Hi Tara, I just bought a Kalorik home UV Sterilization Lamp but cannot locate the specs for the nanometers anywhere, on the box or in the booklet. The unit appears to be quality in every way. Am I safe to assume it can hit the 200-280 mark? Any thoughts?
Hi, can you tell me what the minimum wattage needs to be for the handheld UVC wands to be effective? And how long do you need to keep the light on a surface in order or it to be dissinfected? Thanku! 😊
Hi, thanks for having interest in my video. Regarding the wattage, I guess it will depend on how large the area to be disinfected is. I have 2 UV boxes and I set the small one (35x65cmx35 box)to disinfect for 15 minutes because it is only 2.5watts. While the larger box (70x50cmx45cm box) is set only for 5 minutes because The lamp is 15watts. For our rooms (16-20 sqm) our uv lamp is 20W so I set it at 15-30minutes. Thanks alot. Truly Tara Thanku so much for the info! So your larger watt units produce ozone? Also, separate topic, keep up the good work with your videos. UV-C lights for home use? Without PPE and other protective measures? 0:00 I am going to go ahead and assume all these lights failed... simply because any REAL UV-C light is dangerous and you would not want your skin exposed to it for over 1 minute and would not want your naked eyes exposed to it for more then 2 seconds. Any REAL UV-C light would absolutely require Personal Protective Equipment. So if these lights are SAFE for you to be exposed too, THEY AREN'T UV-C!
Hi and thanks for your comment. I leave the room when we use our UVC lights to disinfect our rooms. And I use a UVC BOX to disinfect groceries and small items. @@TrulyTaraph Before I made decision to purchase my UVC light, I did some research of the use of ozone product or UVC with ozone as well (sorry that I did not keep the links). In general what I found was that ozone was hazardous to health and would not be recommended if exposed even it could help sterilisation. Further even some UVC light claimed it could also use its generated ozone to help sterilisation, e.g. for area where UVC light could not reach. However, the amount of ozone generated would be too little to be effective in sterilisation. In order to use ozone as a sterilisation agent, it has to be in higher density, but this will be harmful to human.

Can UVC light kill bacteria or disable viruses instantly? There is a UV mask in the market, I want to know from a 3rd party if the UV mask really work or not?
Hi Fox! Thanks for your comment. Research data states that it does eliminate bacteria and viruses. However, you have to be careful with using a real UVC light. Many UVC products now are not effective at disinfection. Also, personally, a UV mask poses a concern for me. Because I prefer UVC lights that produce ozone to supplement in the disinfection process. Ozone when inhaled in significant quantities when accumulated in a closed space can cause respiratory problems. My biggest concern with UVC masks is the possibility of inhaling a significant amount of ozone while using the mask. Honestly, I have not given this much attention since I have not considered wearing these devices. Maybe I should start checking them out! Thanks for your comment. Appreciate it. Just leave it for awhile for the ozone to spread inside the box. Just make sure you UV light produce Ozone. Otherwise, If I don't have time I just spray thoroughly with Lysol spray. Hi Meryll, We have been using recently a Room Air Purifier with UV light+Multi-stage Filters(with HEPA filter). My concern was the OZONE gas/ smell that is emitted by the UV light. The device we are using do not give off an ozone smell so maybe its ok. But some air purifier designs now are using mostly UV light and may not have HEPA filters which are needed to trap small particles. You have to check that the Filters are adequate. Also, I have noticed some FACE MASKS with UV light and I am not sure if that is good again because of the Ozone smell while using the UV Light. I appreciate your comment and would like your opinion on my other COVID-19 videos in the playlist here ru-vid.com/group/PLqn-otC-WuFup4XN3_ouEudLmvPbw__jR . Stay safe!
Hello Darlene, thanks for taking interest in my video. My best answer would be depending on your risk for getting the infection. Example: My husband is a Doctor and works with COVID-19 cases, so we use UVC lights to disinfect every time he comes home. We have a UV-Box to disinfect his phone, keys, etc and our rooms are disinfected once a week and as needed. If we have guests, even if they do not have the illness, we disinfect the guest room after they leave. Also there are other ways to disinfect our homes other than UVC lights. I made a separate video on that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ykcYAi1Dn94.html ... Hope this helps.
