So if the classroom door cant be locked, then why did they say the shooter locked himself inside and the cops needed a key to get inside? Too many different stories going on. Video marker 3:05 . Because obv the door wasnt locked from the outside otherwise he wouldnt of been able to get in.......

One of the students said the teacher was outside in the hallway trying to lock the door from the outside when the shooter approached and backed the teacher up into the classroom before they could lock the door, take it with a grain of salt, but yeah, clearly the door wasn’t locked. Seems like an awful mechanism to have a door that only locks from the outside when the kid reported the teacher was having trouble with the keys getting the door to lock.

My understanding is that the classroom door was "locked" but was not latching properly in the striker plate. Therefore the handle wouldn't move but someone would be able to get inside just by pulling the door open. Also, the shooter would've been able to come out and go back inside as he pleased. What a clusterf......

Often in a crisis people find out what they’re really made of… For some it’s a courage they never knew before… for others like Arredondo they find cowardice hidden under his badge and bravado. The worst example of a leader is one who doesn’t take action and also prevents others from doing so by holding the place of leadership, and acting like he’s in charge, when in reality he’s too afraid to do the job. Arredondo is a poser…. who tries to look like a big chief and pretends to be in control to keep others from seeing his cowardice. They had shields, rifles and a door busting tool available early on… And plenty of officers (and parents), willing to do what was needed right away But He didn’t use those options and instead wanted to wait for keys…. KEYS?… Or was he waiting for the shooter to finish up. Yes likely many students died in the initial round of shots but how many were killed later while he waited for KEYS? And how many bled to death in that hour while Arredondo hid in the hallway waiting for KEYS? I guess we all missed that training protocol about being careful not to break any doors during a school shooting. Arredondo is a coward who was afraid to die ( understandable I guess), but he didn’t allow others to take action bc he was too scared to lead it or be seen as the coward he is. Better to pose as a leader and have everyone wait with him for Keys? This all fits his profile.. a man whose primal instincts are set way higher for self preservation than the protection of others… it’s just the way he’s wired. Just a few days after the shooting there he was strutting around dressed like a politician, shaking hands and back slapping his pals like nothing ever happened , while he was being secretly sworn in for some city counsel position? Waiting.. as he said, “for the parents to stop grieving”, before answering everyone’s questions…. how considerate of him. This guy is guilty of criminal cowardice and all the stupidity and bad decisions that go with it …Posing as a chief …. while he politely waited for someone to bring him some Keys?

But it wasn't just him. The school was pathetically unprepared. They didn't have a lockdown protocol in place, nor **ANY** functional security in place on the day a shooter arrived! He waltzed right in, and the teachers delivered those kids to him on a silver platter.

@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 just cpl hours before family, and other adults were in the school for an end of the year awards assembly. I would have thought that the school would have been more vigilant that morning due to other non school people in and out of the school. I guess not. I guess they were less vigilant with it being so close to end of the year. I wondered if the shooter or someone else tampered with any of the locks. It seems like he wasn't the only one who was incompetent but I agree. He asked for his radios to be brought to him which he deliberately left outside like a knucklehead, which is against police procedures. He requested breaching tools and there was a "halligan bar" that was obtained and remained outside and nobody even thought to bring it in. It needs to be determined once and for all if he is lying about he and the other officers trying the handles on both doors 111 and 112. Why does no video corroborate that?

OK so all the doors, both interior and exterior, lock with a key on the outside. You can't tell by eye necessarily whether or not the door is locked. But you darn well should not have to close the door from the outside to tell whether or not the door is in the locked position as he indicates. If the door is latching in the strike plate and the exterior handle doesn't move then someone should know whether or not the door was locked. The teacher didn't understand how the door worked or she would've known she didn't need a rock. She also would've known there was no way for her to lockdown the school without the key. Not having bulletproof glass or at least steel mesh in the glass is a disaster.

The teachers got complacent and left doors unlocked it was 2 days until summer vacation and that’s where their heads were!!!

You think this is the teachers fault? Not the cops with rifles and ballistics shields waiting like cowards outside an unlocked door?

CLEARLY we are all the real nuts. We guard our money as if its our life, with arms and 3 foot thick doors with all kinds of security, then we leave open security that guards our children like they are replaceable. Everything is replaceable except our children's lives. JUST NUTS !!

it needs to be done. If he says the door couldn't have been locked they can rebut by simply saying yes it can. It's important to know the doors had the function to lock but there was no way for the gunman to do that from the inside or without a key. This makes it impossible for the cops to lie and say it was locked .. as they already have once.

Could've just brought in video footage of someone going in & out said doors. These people are morons.

This feels like an abusive husband slapping his wife at the table and blaming her for it. These cops are literally trying to pin it on the school. This country sucks sometimes.
