Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, USAVA has been fully supporting the veterinary sector and animals in Ukraine. Thus, more than 10 veterinarians have received assistance from the association to rebuild, restore or expand their businesses to enable them to continue saving animals.
Hundreds of veterinarians are now defending their homeland on the frontline. Unfortunately, some have been wounded or killed. We help both defenders and their families. From prosthetics to financial support.
On the 23rd of September, we launched the USAVA school. So far, 1,500 veterinarians have attended lectures in Kyiv and Lviv. In addition, throughout this year, we have organised the participation of more than 350 veterinarians in five world congresses.
And most importantly, we save our four-legged friends. Since July this year, 21,000 animals have been rescued under the BASED programme and 158 shelters have received assistance. With the financial support of the IFAW and FOUR PAWS, 28 clinics have been opened.
In August 2023, we established the USAVA Foundation, a charitable foundation that will attract all possible assistance to save the Ukrainian veterinary industry.
"We have a lot of plans for 2024: from animal rescue programmes in Ukraine to the establishment of charity clinics. We also have plans to implement grants for veterinary colleagues and educational programmes," said Olena Rudneva, Director of the Ukrainian Veterinary Medicine Foundation.
But we need help to implement all our plans. We will report clearly and transparently on every hryvnia and dollar spent. Let's unite for the sake of a good cause, for the sake of saving those who cannot take care of themselves!
