Uwajimaya is Seattle's biggest Japanese grocery store and I love shopping here! Come grocery shopping with me for a dumpling party I'm throwing with some friends 🥟
I usually come here without a grocery list -- instead, I like to grab random things that just look interesting. Do you have a go-to item whenever you shop here (or your favorite local Asian grocer)? Drop your suggestions in the comments. I'm an adventurous eater, I'll try pretty much anything!
There are 4 Uwajimaya locations: Seattle International District (where I filmed this walk), Bellevue, Renton, and Beaverton, OR.

It's pretty awesome, I'm not gonna lie. Especially after living in NYC for so long, where the grocery stores are super cramped. I think the first thing I told my parents I loved after I moved was the fact that grocery stores are normal sizes again 😂 It's the simple pleasures in life.

I try not to come too often because I literally just buy anything and everything that looks interesting LOL. And then my grocery bill is insane and I can't make a full meal because half the stuff doesn't go together 😂 But it's always worth it. Thanks for watching!

Good morning my friend, this is really amazing to just watch and let yourself emerge into the whole experience in the evergreen state of beautiful Washington :) As I had a chance to live there for a year, I still miss a lot of parts of it, and it is stunning to see that lot has changed but also not haha. Hello friend; thanks for letting me go grocery, it was nice to bi-level with the groceries for once. I love that particular grocery store, I've been in there loads of times, and every time it puts me into serious happiness sensory overload, and I want to attach the entire store to the back of my wheelchair and tow it home with me:-). Thanks again for all you do, and I will run errands with you anytime :-).

I'm a loose cannon in HMart or Uwajimaya. I'll get half practical things and then everything else is a free for all because I can't make up my mind. But I feel like I've found some of my favorite snacks this way, so I'll just keep doing it 😂 I wish I had one closer to where I live so I didn't have to trek across town, but #willtravelforfood.

@@WhereTheLocalsRoam yeah I hear you about h Mart as well. I'm a sucker for Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Korean food. Probably because my brother used to be a martial arts instructor, and his long-term girlfriend was Japanese so she introduced us to all sorts of nifty foods and snacks and drinks and what not, so when I'm in an interesting store I tend to shop the exact same what you do I get the practical things like noodles rice etc and then come home with half the bag filled with things that I don't really need but that sounded cool in my head in the store. Aside from being a general Asian food; I'm also so a sucker for British and Western European foods too. My dad grew up in Europe. So I was raised on things like bangers and mash, fish and chips, beans on toast, and a good lamb vindaloo. There are a couple of good British stores in the area where you can get things like Guinness flavored potato chips good chocolate bars exedra. It's one of the things I really love about our food is a really high quality, and you can usually find what you are looking for if you're willing to spend enough time looking. Thanks again for letting me run errands with you it made my day. 😀
