Far Cry blew me away when it came out; the fresh tropical setting, the feeling of non-linearity, the music, gunplay etc Felt like the first FPS to give HL2 a run for it's money. Then we had F.E.A.R not long after, which also promoted it's enemy A.I. And here we are, in 2022, with absolutely moronic enemies. oh well.

Uwe Boll movies are absolutely batshit insane, ESPECIALLY for game adapted movies.

I honestly low-key liked how unforgiving the AI soldiers were in this game. I mean it does soft-lock you in some areas and force you to reload a save way back to prevent yourself being instantly sniped once you leave the door, but that's honestly realistic - they _are_ trained elite soldiers, after all.

Fun Fact: Anthony Bourdain plays an extra in this movie. He has a cameo as one of the scientists that gets killed right away in the lab. You can see him briefly at 24:05 Apparently he was friends with the director and visited the set during when filming of an episode of No Reservations that also took place in Canada.

Pretty nice review! A Uwe Boll movie without Til Schweiger isn´t really a Uwe Boll movie at all xD But to say that Til is not too popular in germany would be an understatement... He is pretty bad, mediocre at best. But he is so full of himself and views himself as the person that people who aren´t from germany have to see, cause he is so talented and not the stereotype german... His german movies, pretty much everyone is a romantic comedy, are all pretty bad. Especially those where he plays alongside his daughter, who also isn´t a great actress. Another example is a german crime series called "Tatort", Schweiger is something of an "action hero" in every secment he plays. Always a bad ass, killing all the gangsters and saving the day! All in all, germany sure has better actors. And Uwe Boll is a madlad on his own haha

Far Cry was definitely among the giants of visually mesmerizing FPS games I got to witness as a kid in 2004. Watched my father beat it and eventually played it myself years later and nearly snapped to the sometimes spiking difficulty. (Likely had to do with the dynamic difficulty option that should _never_ be used.) By this point with how Ubisoft has worn out the series with the same "story driven liberate the people open world" formula, I'm hoping they go back to the game's actual roots.

Iirc, idk if this was true but I remember a steam forum post about it I think, the reason why enemies can see you so far away was because later patches broke it and as for why enemies can see you behind certain cover, it's because those cover somehow was enabled to for enemies to see through to you. This was awhile ago like 2013-2016.

The first Far Cry truly was an experience for me back in the day thinking it was gonna be like far cry 3 and was overall pleasantly surprised I need to go back and beat it since my 14 year old self never picked it back up after getting almost to the end

To be fair subcutaneous armor and subdermal armor would be situated in slightly different depths with subdermal being slightly deeper. Although the lack of blood would indicate that the armor layer was at an even shallower layer.
