I love Adobe XD, as its so easy to move between Illustrator and XD. I have never tried figma, but I definitely will now.

You should... I regret the day I chose XD as my first prototype tool. Figma is way better for a lot of reasons!

We use Adobe XD at the company I work for and is amazing in terms of performance and collaboration with other members of the team. We use it for mockups, low and high fidelity prototyping and preparing assets for the development team, all in the same app.

I have been using Adobe XD and I have had no problems with it. The cross platforming between other programs like illustrator gives it a big edge.

Love Figma. 🔥 100% agree with everything, except I like macs. I’d add that UX/UI/Product/Visual/Front-end are all blending together more and more so that it’s helpful to have a few other tools: VS Code, 3rd Party Design Systems, GitHub, and No-Code tools like Webflow, Retool, AWS Honeycode, Shopify, etc. The more you can develop as a designer the better. :) oh and chrome dev tools is useful too, great vid!

Would love to see how do you set up in Figma. My files used to be really messy in the past, and I learned how to be organized recently. The biggest challenge here is how to set up things, like fonts, group, component to make the future changes easier?

😅 I'm also not the best at keeping my files organized haha. I find that most product designers aren't, unless they work at design agencies where it's a requirement. I would say, in general, don't spend too much time on it unless you find it slowing you down.

I believe the Adobe Suite is like being in the Apple ecosystem where, despite its limitation, you can use a lot of other tools to enhance the experience. I use Adobe XD as a UX Designer but never used Figma or Sketch. It seems to me that Adobe XD can do almost everything that you have mentioned in this video plus it has the support of other tools like Photoshop and Illustrator if required. Of course, it does come with a price. I wouldn't mind switching to Figma as a freelancer though because of the price (non-existent) and its capabilities. Great Video as always Christine. :)

Adobe software is big and bloated and slow. Figma is super lightweight and fast, fast enough to run in a web browser. It's perfect for ux writers to go in and change copy themselves too without needed to install adobe xd software.

The ecosystem thing is absolutely true. Especially if you work in a company in collab with graphic and ui designers. I started with sketch, then moved to xd because of the prototyping. Now i dont have a good reason to try figma since we use a lot of adobe products, and the jumping between them is fantastic.

Very good video, Am still strong sketch user, I work alone as a designer and use all the features on sketch, the only one reason i am thinking of switching is because my Macbook is getting old and i thinking of windows but screen resolution and color accuracy is biggest challenge when thinking of switching

I recently heard about Figma from another UxX/UI designer. It definitely feels easier to work with than Sketch, especially when Sketch is Mac only.

you can prototype straight from sketch and sync directly to invision via craft plugin so you don’t have to do those hotspots separately

Sketch being a mac only tool and me working in a mixed OS environment necessitated a move. My original path was Omnigraffle to JustinMind to Sketch but more recently I've switched to Adobe XD mostly because of its multiple OS capabilities, integration with the Adobe ecosystem and prototyping capabilities. There are definitely lots of limitations still with XD even compared to Sketch but they have been slowly improving the software. I am actually happy for Figma's success because it forces companies like Adobe to innovate more when they don't own the market. When I started seeing Figma blow up in the UX world I didn't want to make yet another switch, however, I will probably create an account just so I am familiar if needed. Thanks for your insights.
